Earlier this week, a drunk driver struck and killed 22 year old Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart and 2 others.

Even though I just posted that I wasn't really paying attention to baseball much, this tragedy is still just as senseless...

If you drink this weekend, please bring a DD or call a cab, willya?

Earlier this week on my lunch hour I happened to observe a photographer taking shots of an attractive woman at the local park, which I assume were for one or both of their porfolios.

It was a particularly windy afternoon, and as the model approached the public restroom to change into another outfit, a timely gust of wind blew up her dress ala Marilyn Monroe. Without a free hand to force it back down, this afforded me a particularly nice view of her butt, as she only had a thong on that day (vs panties under that dress).

Of course I looked...I mean, hello, what's my screen name?...

I heard for the first time this week a radio ad from a local sandwich restaurant offering to help you "find the perfect sub", and during the whole commercial, all I could think about was this place...

Is that wrong?

I read today that one of the most genuinely nice people I met on here has passed away.

Rest in Peace, SexyNick732...

We'll miss you.

OK, so once again the biggest excuse of the year for binge drinking has returned, St Patrick's Day. Locally, there are parades and of course, a block party in the historic downtown district of the next town over--this year there are two of them because the holiday falls on a weekday.

Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good drunken revel as much as the next guy, in fact, more than some. But since the combination of my prescription meds and alcohol would be REALLY, REALLY, bad (or so I'm told), I find the concept not as fun as I should.

So getting excited about a corned beef dinner and listening to some Chieftains CDs just doesn't get it done...can I just live vicariously through all of you? Gimme somethin' ta work with here, people!!

(Happy Saint Paddy's Day...and beware of drunk driving)

Twice a week I succumb to the temptation of buying lottery tickets, simply because, in the immortal words of the CT lottery..."you can't win if you don't play."

Never mind that the odds are better of dying by falling out of bed. It just irks the crap outta me that the people that you see on the TV news have won the lottery and I haven't. Most of these people appear dumber than stumps, and by personal experience, the only person I've ever known who won more than six figures pissed it away far faster than anyone with an IOTA of sense would have.

I don't care that statistically I have a better chance of being eaten alive by an animal. I flush 6 bucks a week down the figurative toilet and will probably continue to do this ad nauseum. Maybe it's my self-destructive streak that allows me to continue the behavior. I suppose I could literally be beating my head against a wall somewhere...

Please give me some small amount of reassurance that I'm not the only one walking around with "SUCKER" emblazoned across my forehead in 500-point boldfaced type...

I dunno if it's just my excuse for a life or what, but lately I've had an increasingly difficult time getting excited about pretty much anything. I think I continue to show up here more out of an expectation of impending loss than anything else.

It's been two years this month since I joined the site, and many of the friends whose company or whose blogs and chat I enjoyed are long gone. It's happened to me before, so that wasn't unexpected, but as the numbers continue to climb, I can't help but wonder who's next. And whether any of the future departures will make any attempt to stay in touch...some of the friends whose presence I miss most left without a goodbye.

On the plus side, many of the people I've met locally via the site still show up at places I can find, so it's not total deprivation...
