Fielding at Silly Point

[It's slowly creeping up to one year] It's now shot past one year since I first joined this site. Here my very own piece of this universe.
I'm a cricket fan, hence the cricket reference in the blog name. The Silly Point position is precauriously close to the batter, and one can often get injured there. Having said that, it can be a very exciting place to be, where the fast reflexes come to the fore. Not having much time to think, that's what my blog posts are like. Just straight reflexes on the fast pace of life, and here's what I make of it before putting any thought into it.
Hope you enjoy visiting, and don't get too bored if you're not a cricket fan. For those that are, feel free to get in touch with me and join me in the field of life.
Here's to you

Having sex or making love?

What is the difference between having sex and making love? Here's what's in my head on the topic.

Making love for couples goes beyond the fantastic feeling of having sex. It adds that extra zing to the session. But what is it? In addition to the sex, it is holding your partner close, both naked bodies close to each other, feeling the heart beating, soft kissing with the flicking of tongues, and just taking time, not rushing it, slow and steady. Following up all this with an 'I love you' at the end before drifting off to sleep in each others arms.
Then, to wake up in the morning for a quick follow-up f*ck

It's these sessions of love making that leave long lasting fond memories of that special night.

So what is your thoughts on the differences between having sex and making love? What do you prefer?

I've just been asked to put down five words that come to mind when I think of the relationship I have with my sweetheart SelfishNShabby.

She gave me no more than 5 minutes to do it.
A tough request, but here goes

1) Whirlwhind
2) Rollercoaster
3) Exciting
4) Vigorous
5) Honesty

Well, using single words made it tough, but brought them out, and maybe later will describe why I chose some of them

So what five words would you use for yours?

Just a short blog for now.
Just feeling like a sucker.

Have you been sucked in to a project that just isn't your cup of tea? Felt that somehow, you just haven't been given all the info you need?

Well, had one of those dumb weekends where I seem to cause myself pain.
We prepared our own pizzas for lunch, and I grabbed one of the chilli's from the garden. We hadn't tried one of them before, so unsure of how hot it would be.
I sliced up a half, and placed it on my half of the pizza. My eyes were starting to get a bit sore, but knowing I had just cut up some chilli, I knew not to rub my eyes. I went to the bathroom, rinsed my hands under the cold water, then splashed some water on my face.
WOW, there's the pain. There must have been some residual 'hot stuff' on my hands, and splashing that into my face raised hell in my eyes.
I was on the floor curled up in a ball in agony. Eventually made my way to bed to hide under the sheets.
My caring other half found me and helped me out with a cold face washer on the eyes (after calling me a d*ckhead. lol).
A few hours later, the searing pain was gone leaving just a numb and uncomfortable feeling in the eyes.
Might put me off chilli for a while. lol.

Anyone else have a dumb moment this weekend?

This Queens Birthday long weekend, the Traralgon Indoor Cricket centre puts together a team to participate in the Vic Country Champs.
I have made the Traralgon team for the past four years, there are two big drinking mugs on the shelf that are trophies for the team taking out the championship.
This year, I have decided to skip the tournament to spend time with my lovely SelfishNShabby, whom, as you may have gathered from our blogs, is my partner for just over one year.
This Queens Birthday weekend, it will be just about us and our family. Last year, my trip to the Country Champs was on during her sisters 40'th birthday, which was a big event for her and her family. However, this year, I will be resting the bowling arm and, instead, using the arm for cuddling and snuggling.
For me, it is a big thing to give up. However, having just come off a holiday without my other half, I think it's best to not head off on this event by myself again.
But next year, those boys from Ballarat had better watch out, as I'll be bowling faster and better than before

Have you given up going to an event to spend time with family instead?

My sweetie bought me a gift before I went on my overseas cricket holidays, a small red pillow with the word 'Love' on it Awwww, what a sweetheart
I had her sleep on it the night before I left, to try and transfer some of her 'love' aroma to it
While on my flight to the Caribbean, I didn't really have much of a chance to get it out of my bag, as I was squashed in economy class seats

However, I got it out when I got to the hotel in Grenada, it came out and I cuddled up to it before going to bed each night, waking up with it still in my arms. There was plenty of room on the bed, for the King size bed contained only me and my pillow.

The second half of the trip was on the Royal Clipper boat, where my bed was a lot smaller. I still clutched on to the pillow (more so as the rocking of the boat made me feel little ill. lol)

On my trip home, I got stuck in Los Angeles, arriving at the airport at midnight, and having to wait about eighteen hours for the next chance to check in, I decided to book into a Hotel in LA. I didn't get much sleep that night, but my love pillow was there for me again Helped me get through the stressful period.

I headed back to the airport the next morning, and settled up in the food court in the airport. I went to get out my pillow, but no, wasn't in my bag. I realised that I left it in the bed at the hotel! I was devastated. I gave the hotel a call, thankfully the cleaner found it and handed it into reception. I made use of their free airport transfers to travel back to the hotel, pick up my love pillow, and head back to the airport.

I love my pillow, and I love my sweetheart SelfishNShabby that gave it to me

Do you have something that you cherish and take with you on holidays, and would be lost if you left it behind?

The final of the World Cup marked the last time that we will see Glenn McGrath at the international cricket level.
Glenn, thanks for the memories.

Here's a song to sing to the tune of 'Can't take my eyes off of you'

You're just too good to be true,
Can't take the ball off of you,
We love your fiery spells,
You bowl like Lillee not Nel
And when we look at the stars,
We can't believe that you're ours,
You're just to good to be true,
Can't take that ball off of you

We love you Pidgeon
Do do Do do Do do Do do

Raising the bat

When batters in cricket reach a milestone, be it 50 runs, 100 runs, ect...., they raise their bat to the crowd, their mates and the clubrooms.
I feel that I've reached a milestone in my life, so here I am raising my bat to my friends here on the site.
About one year ago, this quiet, nervous boy attended his first drinks night. It was held by a member who was the moderator of Gippslanders group. It was a small group of five of us at the party, but was a great night. SelfishNShabby was the host of the party, and one who I took quite a fancy to
Within weeks after the party, I found myself staying at her place more often than my own.
It has now been a year since that drinks night which occured May 20th 2006.
Since then, we have had our fair share of dizzying heights, and the depressing lows. We make our mistakes, and we grow from them.
One of the biggest highlights was Christmas day, where I proposed to her in a very special way. The fun of organising and planning a wedding is going to be the highlight of our next year together. I'm sure that there's still things that need to be worked out together, things still need to be out in the open, changes still need to be made, but there's always steps forward.

But for this little country boy, I'm very happy to have made it this far. I am with a very loving (and sexy ) woman who loves me for being me, who loves having me around, and can tolerate it when I talk cricket

So here I am, raising my bat for reaching a milestone, that's 50 runs up on the board for me. Time to knuckle down, as there is plenty more in store for me. I am waving my bat towards all my friends here in Affairlook.
Have a great time
Cheers.

South Africans on our boat

And another one for the Saffers out there I was on the Fanatics tour for the Cricket World Cup 2007. The Fanatics is an Australian based sports tour group. We were surprised to find that there was a group from South Africa with us. So what was the go there? Well, this group of cricket fans work together, they organised their secretary to book a holiday for them to see the world cup. She googled for any tour group, found the fanatics, and booked them on our tour not realising that she booked them on a tour full of Aussies
The first match that we went to from the boat was the first semi final, that of Australia against South Africa. It was poised to be a very exciting match, South Africans having sneaked to the top of the rankings prior to the world cup, and Australia going into the Semi Final undefeated.
Our South African friends were made to feel most 'welcome' with us We indulged in some friendly betting with them, I'm told that all up they put approximately ten thousand dollars worth of bets with us.

We went off to the match, and saw South Africa crumble and got completely overwhelmed by the Australian attack. Our South African friends were constantly reminded of the result for the rest of the tour

Would have to feel sorry for those South Africans on the boat, a group in with the wrong crowd lol. They still had a fantastic time, and seemed to enjoy the friendly banter. It will certainly be a holiday that they will never forget.

Have you found yourself in a bad group where you didn't belong, but end up still having a good time?

Ever get the feeling that there is something that someone is not telling you? Ever have that gut feeling that there is something that's going on with someone close to you, but they're not sharing?

This one is for my South African cricket fan who comes to my blog
It was early last year that a friend and myself took a trip to South Africa to wach a one day game and a test match. It as my first trip overseas, so I was very excited yet nervous. I had heard some scary stories of Johannesburg, of the troubles in some areas there. We went to Johannesburg for the one dayer. We didn't have tickets to the game though, and we heard the game was sold out. We sat in the bakery that morning for breakfast, where a local approached us saying that we came over to steal their women, Booze and cricket trophy. We had a laugh, and exchanged stories. He had a who had his 18th birthday the previous day, and he wad too hungover to go to the game with his girlfriend, so he gave us their two tickets and invited us to their house for morning tea. They were a very friendly family.
They took us to the game where Australia scored a record high total...... Only to have it beaten by South Africa. Lol.
Our hosts took us out for dinner where we discussed the game, and allowed our hosts to gloat. Hehe.
That was a fantastic surprise, we appreciated their generous hospitality and friendship. South Africans are ok

Have you been surprised by a big act of kindness from a stranger in a faraway place?

Business Class

Well, as you know, I am home now.
Let me tell you, that flying around on a staff card can be quite stressful, and not something I'd like to go through again.
Having eventually got my flight, I got escorted to my Business Class seat, which had made the waiting worthwhile.
I can say that flying an international flight in a business class seat is like flying in luxury compared to flying in cattle class.
You can stretch the seat out flat into a bed, and not affect anyone around you. Drinks come to a plenty, and let me tell you that drinking on a plane makes you light headed a lot faster than normal. lol.

Has anyone here had an international flight? Anyone flown Business Class?

During my overseas cricket trip, it was commented quite frequently how much I looked like Jimmy Maher, the Queensland left hand batter.

I was called it so much over there that it felt unusual to be called Moz back at home now. lol.
So what do you think? I've put his photo up there to compare.

Have people told you that you look like a celebrity?
