What does the quip "Pleasure is a Discipline" mean ? you may ask : Well the quote is from a Tatrrika named Margot Anand , a French educator who held a Tantra workshop in Northern Ca. some time ago that I attended
It illustrates a point that in our culture..and possibly most cultures (but not all) we fall into the socialized rut when it comes to the art of love of.."get in.. get off..(quickly)..get out..and go to sleep". Spiritually, and emotionally its like a chasing its tail..its fun for a while but never ultimately satisfying. One of the precepts of Tantra is to slow down and be fully aware of yourself and your partner and learning how to fully embrace being turned on..without the pre-programmed reaction of having to do anything about it at that moment. Its not the destination..its the trip.
In older cultures and some today (Phillipines ?) the sexual education of teenage boys is the responsibility of their Aunts or close friend of the family and are formally taught how to treat and please a woman. In the US (as much as I absolutely adore our country with all its faults) the closest we have is ( or was) a rite in the south (once upon a time) for a dad to take his on his 16th or 18th birthday to a house of pleasure to be initiated for the first time. This would give him a start... and perhaps the woman would play the role of a "sacred " for the hour or two..but I doubt it was formal training....
We simply don't have a construct in our society for young people to learn the art, and only if we are lucky enough to run across someone in our lives that knows Tantra do we have the opportunity to experience ways of giving and receiving pleasure that are not just physical, but spiritual.
Actually I did hear of something called Tantra for teens...(should be a merit badge in Girl and Boy scouts ??? LO and will use that for my next post....

Hello Future Dakinis !
So I hinted..So it shall be delivered ! Enjoy..this is as simple as it gets in a North American culturized version of Tantra.
So this could be called "What I want my (if I had any) to know about Tantra, relationships and sex at some point in their twenties"....
First of all, I'm not saying that everyone should go out and be sexually active... Having sex is a great part of a relationship... But it is a really small part... At least if you want it to be any good..
OK.. Here goes.. Basically all we ever know about sex is what I would call Animal Sex. Since we aren't taught anything, when we first become sexually interested/active, all we have are our hormones... and those hormones tell the guys that they need to find a woman to create babies... (obviously not actually what they are thinking ... but that's what their hormones are saying...)
And the same is happening with the women... hormones are rising... must find a guy... to make babies (again... obviously not the actual thoughts... but that's what the instincts are saying)
So you find each other... and if you're going to have sex, it's pretty simple... cause the parts just fit together...
But the problem is that MOST GIRLS HAVE A TOTALLY SHITTY EXPERIENCE!!! It's nothing like they expected.. It's supposed to be all fireworks and holy crap... but it isn't. It's one of life's great disappointments... But they won't tell the guy for sure... And honestly, they might not even admit it to themselves... Because they so desperately want to believe it was great...
The guys generally think it's great... They kind have the long end of the stick on this one... lol!!
The problem is that these early experiences for the women kind of stick with them.. They kind of believe that this is as good as it gets... and don't really ask for anything better... This causes all kinds of emotional junk between them and their partner... Bring on PMS!!!
And the guys have no idea that anything is wrong... and so you start to feel really separate...
Anyway... very depressing... So this is where tantra comes in... This is where we learn how to ACTUALLY MAKE LOVE TO EACH OTHER!! We learn how to relax in lovemaking to make it holy-crap-amazing for everyone!! We learn how to talk to each other and really be able to trust each other with our hearts...
And the cool thing is that it isn't rocket-science... It isn't weird or yogic or full of tricks... It's easy if we want to do it...

Hello ,
If any women are interested in Spirituality and Sex and would like to add to the blog , please do. I've been studying since the early 90s and have been to many wrkshops retreats etc. over the years including Quodoushka , the American Indian equivalent of Tantra.
Would especially like to hear from anyone in Southern Ca. ..
and remember..Pleasure is a Discipline ..(and sometimes vice-versa)
