Ok so in light of posting my recent pics I have gotten a lot of questions and compliments about my 'look' and makeup etc. Instead of answering everyone's 'help me or I need makeup lessons' each and individually I'll put it in a blog.

First off ... thanks for the compliments. Personally I think you are all being way too kind as IMHO the two biggest friends for gurls would be lighting and camera angle LOL
Bi No means do I think I am an expert or some exceptional makeup artist but these are just some tips that hopefully will help maybe someone on the fence or someone discouraged to try or keep trying. For myself completing that feminine 'look' brings my inner self full cycle and it is such fun creating 'her'.

For those first timers at makeup or beginners ... Tip #1 ... you are going to screw up ... you will at some point be very unhappy with how it turns out and you will want to make the biggest mistake of all ... giving up or not even trying in the first place .

They are called makeup artists for a reason. Michelangelo's first attempt at a masterpiece was likely drawing stick people in the dirt as a 4 year old ... why should yours look any different?

Just like any other skill it takes learning and practice. Learning in that you begin to understand what techniques you are good at and which you are weak at and what 'tools' you need to add to your inventory to compensate. Speaking of which ... if you go out and buy 'a' lipstick and some eye shadow you haven't even begun to tip your toes in the water and are likely going to be discouraged and disappointed.

Tip #2 ... the internet is not just for Tgurl porn
There are tons of sites out there to help you and most of them less likely to infect your 'puter with cookies n viruses. This one is a fave ... it's concise and addresses the essentials of what you need to start turning that palette between your ears into a fun femme masterpiece

http://Affairlook.com

Next regarding the internet .... it's a great place to shop if you are too intimidated to walk into a department store. I will say something that might be unpopular here ... I am not a big fan of 'TG makeup'. I think it tends to be overpriced in taking advantage of CD/TV/TGs and cosmetics are costly enough. I've been able to get as good and more correctly Better results using other products after learning which work best for and with my skin (more on these in later blogs). If those 'kits' from TG vendors work for you ... then Great! Bottom-line ... what works for one or some doesn't work for all and if you want a femme 'look' you are in fact going to end up with a drawer or bag full of cosmetics! (see attached) more on specific products later.

Today's Tip #3 ... skin care! It's not just for the day of or 10 minutes before you decide to do makeup and dress. Ok ... this should make you giggle (it does me). But, Mom was a Mary Kay lady. I spent and do still spend a lot of time outside. The sun may be your friend with you are 17 but after 30 it's pure evil LOL. You need to take care of it ... it's the biggest organ in your body (in spite of what you may think regarding what's between your legs or the legs of your boifriend or gurlfriend) (BiTW? I am not a tobacco Nazi and I understand the importance for many that VS' have in their look but smoking is probably next to sunlight the number one enemy of your skin).

Now being over 50, I battle the wrinkles like everyone or almost everyone. I've tried all the creams and they are ALL overpriced and overhyped. Since this is the basis of everything else and without it you are screwed I will name a few specifics here. One product I do like that doesn't cure but helps is Murad 'Retinol Concentrate' ... I use this on the bigger lines on the forehead and some on the outside of the eyes. The best thing I have found for skincare and moisturizing are relatively inexpensive solutions and work wonderfully. They are 'pure' Almond oil and Coconut oil. These MUST be the pure versions and unlike baby oil are non-petroleum based and very gentle on your skin and can safely be used around the eyes ... PLUS unlike harsh makeup remover wipes the coconut oil takes eye makeup off marvelously and painlessly leaving a re-freshed moisturized set of eyes behind. 'Daily' when showering I use coconut oil on my legs and dry patches and after shaving I take about a quarter size drop of almond oil and massage it into my eyelids, under my eyes and around my face. Try it for a couple of weeks and go ahead and tell me you don't notice a difference ... plus a 12 ounce bottle will last you for MONTHS versus the moisturizing skin creams from your local big box market.

Thus endeth the intro-blog for the day ... these are the basics to get you 'thinking' about getting a dolled up face you've always wanted. Remember one thing .... in the very end it's NOT about whether you look like or close to or as good as those 'images' of professional t-gurl models because afterall it is ALL just an illusion. What matters is how the process and end result makes you feel on the inside. By NO means do I think I am an expert but rather I am an always transition evolving, I DON'T think I am 'all that' and a bag of lips ... LOL ... what I do 'know' is how I feel once I have my 'face on' and slip into my hairdo of choice and brush it out. THAT is IMHO what matters most .... so stop being afraid, stop being intimidated and take the plunge! That femme face is just waiting for you to bring her out!

Hugs n kisses to you all that have left me lovely compliments it's very sweet of you and I hope these and the tips to follow help you in your journey.

Stay Pretty!
Karen
