A little fun at the lake

First off, quit thinking dirty.

Monday I had a few small jobs to do. After they were done I came home and stared at the yard that needs mowing for a few minutes and headed indoors. Too hot out there for that.

I came in to find my had been home bored stiff all day. I just looked at her and said, hey lets go to the lake. She was shocked, I don't think I have ever just taken her to the lake. Heck, it's been a few years since I've been to the lake at all.

Here's something funny. She can tan very quickly and easily but she is pale by choice. I don't think I've ever known anyone who actually preferred to be pale skinned. She uses SPF45 sunscreen to stay that way. What is up with teenagers these days?

Anyway, nothing spectacular happened, we just got out there and splashed around in the water for over an hour. It was rather nice and relaxing.

I told her that her mom could probably take her there later this week if she wanted. First thing she wanted to know was if her boyfriend could come. That sounded more like a on that one.

I was a bit surprised when today she asks me what time I would be getting there if we were to go thursday, I told her I might not be able to be there and she was disappointed. Geez, since when does a want a parent around. I may not understand but I can live with this one.

I think we may end up going friday since I'm fairly sure I can be there then. Hopefully it will be as fun and relaxing as it was monday.

Have you done anything fun with your lately?

While in Ohio I got to see just how grownup my daughter had gotten. What we used to call girls night for movies has turned into " hey mum, Lets play spoons( a rough card game) It was fun to play the one card game we both love to play together again. We did learn that the guys didn't really find it fun to be abused during a card game lol

Isn't it great that SOMETIMES they do want us around?!?!?!? My son is 22 and doesn't have a lot of time for dear old mom, but occasionally he will surprise me with a call to say, "Hey Mom...let's go out to eat" or something equally surprising. I treasure those moments!

Enjoy it! Not all teenagers are like this! These will be the memories that she will remember. I think that if you aren't involved in your daughters life...she'll be grown and gone before you know it.
