Reminded of a Silly Thing

I once had a friend... he's still a friend but he has joined the angels in Heaven.

Pretty certain even Hell couldn't handle him.

Anyway, he told one of the almost greatest phrases I have ever learned in the English language.

So I chased this line. Wanted see if he took it from one or another philosopher. He never claimed it as his own. But he DID say, "understand, believe, and go on".

That wasn't the line that changed my life. It's much more complicated than that.

If anyone is interested, I've been reading a shit-ton of philosophers' writing about philosophy.

I came to a very recent discovery.

Discovery is a word that I have written thousands of words about.

Find this.

"We know what we know. We know what we do not know. But we do not know what we do not know."

I could ( and do ) write about this "concept of life" for days at a time.

But it's more important than me staying at home. Which somehow seems to be so important.

If anyone wants the punch-line. Feel free to comment here.

" Her smile had in it something of the intoxication of parched earth after a sudden and furious downpour " -- Henry Miller The Colossus of Maroussi. I sure wish I could write like that!
