Pizza Perils It was my first day on the job delivering pizzas for a local pizzeria. At 18 and with the prospect of earning enough money to facilitate my independence I clocked in full of enthusiasm. Even though I had signed on as a delivery driver, I quickly learned that I was expected to sweep and mop the floors, restocking the stations, and even learning to make pizzas. It was my 5th delivery of my shift when the address took me to an affluent part of the city. This is of course a work of fiction. The reality is that some pizza delivery drivers find themselves in dangerous even life threatening situations where they are assaulted and robbed at knife or gunpoint They aren’t paid much and tips are vital for them to cover expenses so they can continue to provide the delivery service to your door.

My daughter used to do deliveries and one evening was sent on a delivery which became life threatening when a young black male shoved a sawed off double-barreled shotgun into stomach and threatened to kill her if she didn’t hand over the money. Somehow she remained calm enough to give the police a good description of the guy who was caught 3 miles away during a traffic stop for speeding When they checked him in the police data base he was wanted for several armed robberies
