[Generic FirstName][Generic LastName]

I understand there is a business model that needs to be fed here, but a whole bunch of new women popped up at the same time with exactly the same username format: "BethRichards", "SusanHoffman". No picture, generic stats, obviously fake. What's worse, that someone does this expecting men to send messages to obviously fake profiles, or that it works?

Apparently, in the online dating industry there is a common practice of seeding the database with profiles of women who don't exist, just so it doesn't look like the place is dead and the Lonely Men with Credit Cards (LMCC) don't give up. It's the same principle as playing loud music in a bar. Ever been in a bar when the sound system isn't working? It's just sad.

In a way, the seeded profiles are doing something of a psychological service to the LMCC because it gives them hope. Maybe they'll write to these women and one of them will check them out! Maybe get a date! Maybe even have sex! Then he falls asleep on his couch watching Game of Thrones. The membership renews for another month.

Yup...generic first name + generic last name + inconsequential number = FAKE PROFILE!

I really appreciate how they "flirt" with you when they're not even online!

Well, it's not like they completely hide certain disclaimers from you... (Though them placing pictures of naked women on the same page as the disclaimers may avert your gaze from the disclaimers..

Disclaimers like: "Persons appearing in photographs may not be actual members. Other data for illustrative purposes only. "

So what exactly may other data actually be? I suppose a statement like that could mean it could be anything they want it to be... But whatever it is - it's for illustrative purposes only...

There are other disclaimers on the website too..

"A "member" is a user account which has been logged in within approximately 2 years, has an available profile, and has an active email account. A member is considered "online" if they have logged in within approximately the last four hours. The calculations made are approximations and should not be relied upon in making membership or payment decisions."

I thin k it can get deeper than this, but it's not like they try to hide everything..

Fun thing …. those Fembots land on female profiles, too.

Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!
