The Internet of Things The telecoms are promoting a dangerous 5G technology, the governments are complicit and if you and your community try to stop them here in the US, you are in violation of federal law. All because governments, telecoms and unconcerned citizens want all of our things— physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators and connectivity— to connect, collect and exchange data. Let’s look at the evidence. First of all, we know it’s waves can penetrate the skin. It uses the same frequency as crowd control devices used by the US, Russian, and Chinese military. Known as the Active Denial System in the US, the frequency penetrates the skin causing the individual to feel like their skin is on fire. Though the device uses a higher power and directs the waves, its effects show a significant, definitive skin reaction, so weaker powers of the same waves could, and most likely do, cause reactions at a less noticeable cellular level. Electromagnetic radiation, which these waves are, is considered a possible carcinogen by the World Health Organization. There are thousands of studies conducted on people who lived or worked near cell towers and those studies showed a link between cell towers and increased serious illnesses. In 1994, residents of a London apartment building with a cell tower on the roof were studied. Those living on the top floor, closest to the tower, had 10x the rate of cancer diagnosis. This is before the ever-more-powerful 3G, 4G and 5G networks were ever thought about. In Germany, 1000 people who lived near 2 cell towers were studied over 10 years. People within 400 meters of the towers had 3x the cancer rate. 5G is an even more powerful network. A 2017 appeal to the European Union where scientists warn of potential serious health effects of 5G states: “More than 230 doctors from 41 countries, have expressed their “serious concerns”regarding the ubiquitous and increasing exposure to EMF generated by electric and wireless devices already before the additional 5G roll-out. They refer to the fact that “numerous recent scientific publications have shown that EMF affects living organisms at levels well below most international and national guidelines.” Effects include increased cancer risk, cellular stress, increase in harmful free radicals, genetic damages, structural and functional changes of the reproductive system, learning and memory deficits, neurological disorders, and negative impacts on general well-being in humans. Damage goes well beyond the human race, as there is growing evidence of harmful effects to both plants and animals. After the scientists’ appeal in 2015 additional research has convincingly confirmed serious health risks from RF-EMF fields from wireless technology. The world’s largest study (25 million US dollar) National Toxicology Program (NTP), shows statistically significant increase in the incidence of brain and heart cancer in animals exposed to EMF below the ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection) guidelines followed by most countries. These results support results in human epidemiological studies on RF radiation and brain tumor risk. A large number of peer-reviewed scientific reports demonstrate harm to human health from EMFs.” This same appeal, which is signed by 180 scientists and doctors from 35 countries, also recommends the EU take a “moratorium on the roll-out of the fifth generation, 5G, for telecommunication until potential hazards for human health and the environment have been fully investigated by scientists independent of industry. 5G will substantially increase exposure to radio frequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) on top of the 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi etc. for telecommunications already in place. RF-EMF has been proven to be harmful to humans and the environment.” But, the worldwide 2020 5G rollout has not been postponed. Secondly, because the millimeter waves (MMWs) are so small, the network will require antennas to be every 300 meters, which equates to a device on every corner. You will not be able to go anywhere in an area within the network to escape the radiation put out by these devices, and the goal of the 5G companies is to blanket the world in this technology, even rural locations, so there will be nowhere to go. In the same 2017 appeal to the EU referenced above, it also states: “5G technology is only effective over short distance. It is poorly transmitted through solid material. Many new antennas will be required and full-scale implementation will result in antennas every 10 to 12 houses in urban areas, thus massively increasing mandatory exposure. With “the ever more extensive use of wireless technologies”, nobody can avoid being exposed. Because on top of the increased number of 5G-transmitters (even within houses, shops and hospitals) according to estimates, “10 to 20 billion connections” (to refrigerators, washing machines, surveillance cameras, self-driving cars and buses) will be parts of the Internet of Things. All these together can cause a substantial increase in the total, long term RF-EMF exposure to all EU citizens.” You would think that some municipalities would opt out of this network because its citizens don’t want the exposure. But, in the US, no location is allowed to opt out. The Telecommunications Act of 1996 was signed into law under the guise of increasing competition in the telecommunications industry. But buried within this expansive legislation is a section coded 47 U.S.C §332 and titled National Wireless Telecommunications Siting Policy. This section contains five separate and substantial protections for a telecom facility applicant. The most shocking of these protections is (d): “no state or local governmental entity may regulate the placement, construction, or modification of personal wireless services facilities on the basis of environmental effects of radio frequency emissions to the extent that such emissions comply with FCC regulations” So, the FCC gets to decide the limits of “safe” EMF waves, not state and local governments. And state and local governments must accept these limits in making their decision to allow a telecom to deploy their network, or they will be successfully sued by the telecom citing the protections under 704. Now remember, the appeal to the EU cited a study where animals showed significant increase in brain and heart cancer even when EMF levels used in the testing were below ICNIRP guidelines. Well, the Comparison of Radio Frequency Radiation MPE Limits, FCC and ICNIRP published by Cisco shows that “the US FCC maximum permissible exposure (MPE) limit would allow more exposure (for the general population) when compared with the ICNIRP MPE limit.” So, the FCC guidelines are even more relaxed than the ICNIRP. Basically, the federal government will allow us to be poisoned by these proven dangerous radio waves and according to the law, there is nothing we can do to prevent it. But we could do something about this. Congress could repeal this section of the law. It’s unlikely, because of the corruption in Washington, but there is only one way to find out. Lobby your senators and representatives in your state by making a few phone calls and telling them to repeal section 704. So to reiterate... the new 5G wireless network is a substantial health risk, yet the only thing we are hearing about it is how great it is going to be and how necessary it is to connect the ‘Internet of Things’. There has been no movement to postpone the worldwide 2020 rollout, which will result in a massive increase of mandatory exposure to wireless radiation. Because of Section 704 of the 1996 Telecommunications Act, it is illegal for your state and local governments to deny the rollout of the technology due to health concerns. The only chance we have to combat this deployment of this experimental technology is to attempt to get Congress to repeal Section 704 so local municipalities can deny telecoms access to their air waves.
