Cross your legs with reckless abandon.

Love’s a fool’s awakening
a stark reminder of our fragility.
The moon, a sliver, yet you marry anyway,
to a distant light
on an unknowing night.

I’ve come out in layers since I was 16
and still I am not quite there.
There, that place where I can wear my mask
and the illusion’s no delusion.
Where I’ll stroll about in shocking pink
neither dress nor pants
a sheath perhaps
or a silken arf spiraling.

If you unravel
my brain traces of
lace will remain.
