Learning Acronyms...and other rules
The news came the other day that AOL was killing off its Instant Messenger. I can still remember some of those news stories on things like Dateline and stuff like that - "Teenagers have their own language on here. LOL means laughing out loud. BRB means be right back. But, there are more sinister acronyms. POS - parent over shoulder, a warning to the 's counterpart that they should be careful what they say."

Well, POS had always meant something different to me, but that's neither here nor there. But the death of AIM made me think about some of the acronyms I learned from it, well beyond LOL and BRB. It took a while to learn the lingo, and it seemed to change pretty consistently. I still never met a single individual who said POS though.

Anyway, one I have seen around here was HNW. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was, but enjoyed seeing the pictures associated with it. They were always pictures of half-naked people, and usually very well done. And they were almost always on Wednesday...yet for some reason, I still had to ask what it meant. Glad I did though

Anyway, I thought I'd try. My picture taking skills still need some work, but I wanted to be a part of this...and even though it's still Tuesday by me, it's Wednesday somewhere in the world. So Happy HNW all!
