Thoughts shared on not being taken/scammed

I appreciate the appearance of verification but do not trust it, per se. I trust my own judgement and take things rather slow. More specifically, I do not send a photo at all unless theirs is sent first or posted. If the request sounds more like a demand or a whine ("its only fair") that's manipulation and I still don't send it. I don't owe anyone anything here. If I give an email or a photo, its because I choose to do so, a gift so to speak. It is easy for people to steal photos, so it's good to be cautious. I do not send or take nude photos of myself. I respect myself and want others to treat me that way, too. Behind closed door things can change, with respect.

So, if someone says mail here is too erratic, I'm not sympathetic, though it may be sometimes true. That's just another excuse to manipulate you into giving you phone number or email address before you might otherwise have felt safe in doing so. Women probably are aware of feeling less safe than men but anyone can get stalked by the sanest sounding person.

I feel somewhat safer now giving my phone number since I now can readily block the number later if need be. Still, I prefer to not go to that until I'm comfortable and have the time to arrange a time to talk.

If a man wants to talk or have my email or photo at some point after a few exchanges of email here, it helps to make the request set in terms of "when you are comfortable, I'd like to exchange photos or numbers, and here is mine". In other words, be willing to share yours first and wait, but still don't be overly anxious. Being appreciative and respectful is pretty sexy too for some. Hopefully for the kind of person you would like to meet.

For me, sad stories especially up front or coming on too strong, or someone who picks up on my situation and wants to immediately help or fix or has a matching sadder story is a red flag. That does not mean they are not authentic, nor does it mean that they are. Just notice and listen carefully for other "too good to be true" sharing to check the reality of what you are being told.

Hope that helps.
