Damsall in distress?
Damsall in distress? When I do an orientation, I refer to my coworkers and peers as my 'work family'. In many ways, they are very much a type of family to me. I see them 40 hours a week, which ends up being more than I see my own family. I vent to them when I am angry and I listen to them when they need to talk.... We look out for each other. So, it was no surprise to me when I asked one of my coworkers which type of drain cleaner worked the best... And ended up with about 10 coworkers all scrutinizing my clogged drain and offering assistance and advice to get it cleared. Now, I am no shrinking violet and I have been on my own for a long time now... I have taken care of a clog before... But it did make me chuckle to see such concern over a clogged drain. Just like a regular family, everyone had their own suggestion on how I should handle the situation. And, just like my own family, I ignored it all and did what I wanted to do anyway. When it was all said and done, I still didn't get an answer to my original question. Which drain cleaner worked the best? Happy Monday! |

I agree with Drano Gel. Used it many a time myself always with great success. However IF it is hair that is clogging the drain, it's always best to try and remove as much as you can as it is usually just clogged at the trap area. Just my two cents....

hoping the Damsall found the answer and did it work?

I like the Drano Gel pour it in , let set for 15 min and flush it with a kettle of boiling water.I have found it will get almost anything out and the boiling water does a fine job of rinsing the crud away. Just another thought for you to file away with the work family's Have a good day, be safe..

QUOTING: I hadn't heard the dish soap one... would that work on a hair clog? Good to know for the future, just in case. for about a dollars worth of soap, its worth a try before you use force or chemicals. lubrication seep into it might loosen it. but if you have an in-drain stopper mechanism and its wrapped around that, maybe not. "well only get through this if we work together. if we dont, none of us will"

ive always wondered why they dont sell the crystals anymore. I think the brand was Drano....a small can of crystals. That was always reliable....you could hear them fizz up and crackle n pop in the drain. No longer anywhere. I just use the gel Drano now... glad u got ur solution Ms Damsel ~~

like CharlesD6996 says, depends a lot where and what the clog is. a simple and safe way to start is a HUGE squirt of dish soap (like half a small bottle!) and some time. sometimes the extra lube will do the trick, if not, then move on to something else, like the baking soda/vinegar one. worth a try before going to harsher chemicals. if youre plunging, make sure you have the right type of plunger. theres the flange type made especially for toilets. and the flat type made specifically for sinks.

Hair clog in my tub.... Got it out with Liquid Plumber because it was cheapest. I could have called the handy man to do it, but he creeps me out and don't want him in my apartment alone.
