Workplace Drama

Is it vindictive of me to secretly feel pleased that my manager got in big trouble the other day?

I'm not normally like this, it just pisses me off at times when he's always on a smoke break, or hanging out at the registers to ring everyone up because he steals their sales.

Then brags because he has top sales status.

Not once has he EVER dressed according to dress code, either.

I smiled inwardly when he told me the number of times the district manager told him she could fire him for his various policy violations. She actually sent him home to change.

Perhaps now he won't feel so invincible.....

It's time he becomes part of our team instead of acting like he is the team.

Not sure about your state's employment laws, but here in California we have one called "The Whistle Blower Law" which protects employees from being terminated when reporting behavior such as this "manager" you work for.

I would have been on the phone immediately to report him to Human Resources and the powers that be. It is not fair what he is doing to his subordinates who work hard and do the right thing every day. I for one would NOT put up with it. Hopefully the DM that sent him home can become aware of his other behaviors and take the appropriate action.

One of my coworkers actually did contact corporate, which is how the DM came to find out. The coworker was smart enough to obtain proof of the transgressions, so there was nothing he could do to shift any blame.

Yes it is... but justifiably so.

I'm just hoping he starts picking up his slack around there.

No....I totally agree with you, its about time he got a taste of his own medicine

The store manager really should have been coaching him and letting him know his behaviors were not within policy.

there has been that person at every job I've ever had. I wound up working for one. He used me and stole my ideas and took credit for the things I did and he treated me like gold. I found that it was best if I didn't pay any attention to those people. I got my paycheck and they got theirs, sooner or later. But, they always got it

You're right, there is always THAT person. I am thankful that I don't have to work with him all the time.

I don't think so . . . could be, though, that I'd feel the same . . . a work environment is so much more pleasant AND productive when everyone there . . . from management on down . . . works together rather than the selfish 'all about me' attitude (just my opinion)

I totally agree. When we're all working as a team, our sales and conversion is so much higher, not to mention morale.
