Going to live.

Well, I have decided I am finally going to live. Once everyone left here at summers end, and my is sitting in Iraq, yet again! I figured I could finally do some of the things I had been neglecting for the summer months.

Oh no said the humor god!! I had been on a whirlwind of activities, ending with two parades on Labor Day that I was in. On the trip home, being very satisfied with the results that we were on the float that took First Place in the morning, and a Third Place in the afternoon, my throat felt a little dry and scratchey. I just assumed it was from all the dust etc of the day.

Advance 24 hours, I thought I should be writing out my last will and testament!. My nose felt like an elephant had stepped on it when I wasn't looking, it would have been a runny nose, except it was so swollen inside nothing could leak out!!. My head felt like a 5 piece conga drumset was banging inside trying to set a new world sound record!!. Endless sneezing thru the day convinced me that it just HAD to be allergies.

Advance another 24 hours, I slept off and on most of the day before, so lost a day there, now I just felt like that elephant that had kicked my nose was sitting on my chest and had danced the mexican hat dance all over me. My nose was still stuffed like an olive and I sounded rather funny trying to talk. When I felt like talking that is. Enter now the coughing. Rib cracking, endless coughing. Ok, I figured time to call the doc and find out what the hell is going on. Made call was given advise on what to take, one bottle of cough syrup, and a package of Claritin D 12. Ok, now I figured this would take at least 24 hours to kick in as none of that was a miracle drug. Went to bed early, to have chills so cold that I was sure my blood had frozen in the veins and had no way to thaw it. My teeth chattered and every blanket in the house was piled on top of me creating a large mound in the center of my bed. I must have finally gotten enough blankets because slowly the chills left and I was too warm. The humor of that is, that once I removed a couple of quilts, the chills said GOTTCHA and came right back for round two.

Advance to the next week. Coughing worse now than I had to begin with, going to bed was a lost cause, my lungs would wheeze in a sound that was designed to sound like what a death rattle had to sound like. I am now convinced I must have pneumonia to go with everything else. Another call to the doc. which wound up with an appointment. Managed to take a shower to try and wash off some of these damn germs!! the ones that were dancing all over my skin and hair and making me feel like one large bruised lump.

Ahh final diagnosis, nope good new, NOT pneumonia!! just a case of acute bronchitis. Well, there is nothing CUTE about the freaking thing. I have consumed over half a bottle of the newly flavored robitussin DM, which tastes like cherry flavored battery acid, if I ever drank battery acid, to know what it tastes like, but my imagination says it has to be this stuff!!! One prescription for mega heavy duty 250mg antibiotic pills which I had to take 2 of them to begin with which is 500mg at a crack and then one a day for the next 5 days, and now I am finally going to rejoin the world of the living.

Oh, I am still coughing, but now it is spasmodic. It still racks my ribs, but at least now it's not a constant, me and the Robitussin are still engaging in war fare as I down each dose hoping that eventually this cough will get tired of having it poured down there and just up and leave.

The brighter side of all of this is, I now have a lovely last will and testament, funeral arrangements made, and I can look forward to finally GOING TO LIVE. Still coughing, but have survived.

For those who happen to read my sad tale of woe this far, NO it was not the Swine Flu, or as it is referred to as the H1N1 Flu. This was just the fine, fine ole generic version of flu with the addition of the crowing glory of Bronchitis.

Glad you're on mend Lady, hope it's not too long before you're back on tip-top form again.

I am feeling a lot better Haver, but not quite as smart yet as I think I am. Been up and about all day, and had to finally sit down, and lol, fell sound asleep for about half hour, so guess I am not quite 100% yet, but working on it.
