How to spot a swinger couple

We have been in awkward situations about 'reading' weather a couple, we like, are swingers or not.
How does one judge in general places like roadside bars, restaurants, hotel lobbies, if a couple could be interested in swinging or not.
We are often not the type to go up to people and start a chat. BUT if we can get a hint that the other person(s) could be interested, we can take the initiative.
Please suggest.

 One way that helps me is to watch the couple....if they're checking out other men, women and couples, they just might be swingers. I buy them a drink then join them, and talk. I read their "body language" If I think they're open to fun with others, I invite them to join me at my home or my hotel room....
