"All the Beautiful Strangers..."

This is a title of a poem, turned song by Rod McKuen. It is going through my head right now.
If you have never read it, go to "A safe place to land." and find it. Chances are, once you go there, you will find so much more.
"A Boy Named Charlie Brown," is one of my favorites, also. But there are so many. Way too many to list.

To say that he has influenced my poetry would be telling an untruth. (My apologies, Rod, for doing such a bad job of it.) When I first started writing, I didn't now about him. Funny how closely we wrote alike though, when I did find his. But his lines speak so much better than mine.

He says he doesn't like to read other people's poems, so don't ever send him any. It may influence his. That makes sense to me. I do read some others, and his. But I try and be very careful not to ever take away anything from them... content wise. I don't want to catch myself years from now realizing I took a line from someone elses poem. I will take their meaning, their feeling/thought, though. Afterall, that is what they wanted you to have.
(At least, that's some of the things I give to my reader.)

Just feeling quiet tonight. Just feeling a little sad, a little thoughtful, a little like being held... soft and warm.

And the only sounds in the room are my fingers moving over the keyboard, the quiet whine of the computer, and every now and then, my stomach growling... wanting a little more coffee.

Good night all. When you read this, know I was here and you... well, you were somewhere else. (He silently said, logging off.)

You are absolutely right, Polly.
I don't know where my mind was. It was "All The Beautiful Strangers" that was going through my mind. I have no idea "All the Lonely People" came out when I wrote it down.

I would hope Mr. McKuen and The Beatles would forgive me my brain fart. But then, I figure none of them will read this.

So I will correct it. Thanks for finding my flaw, Polly.
