"would you be willing to make the ulitimate sacrifice.......

The 19th, of January was a day in honor of Martin Luther King. In 1964, He and president John F. Kennedy came up with civil right act. This act outlawed discrimination bases on race, color, religion, sex or national origin. Many benefited from this act. All races. For an example,
Some of the presidents benefited, Kennedy benefit by the women votes, which in 1920 women was allowed to vote. History said, when Kennedy was running for president, more women voted that ever before in history! At that time. History said, they voted because they like the way he looked. But, the women votes got Kennedy elected, it was close, and if he didn't get their support he might had lost.
Jimmy Carter got elected by the minority votes. Regan got elected twice, he had a lot of support from the the women votes and the minority votes. He landslide, and would have won anyway.

How did women benefited? There was a time when women made less than a man, they can be doing the same thing and get less, they wouldn't get the promotions and if they get pregnant, the company could fire them . Many women didn't get the benefit as a man, some didn't get any. Now women get equal pay and we have a director in my organization that's a woman. She is charged of many organizations. She had two master and PHD.

How did the minority benefited, they was able to get a job with fair wages, not doing the shit jobs for peanuts. They are allow to get fair pay and benefits and a chance for advancements. A minority is now allowed to get and education, some of them are supervisor and upper management. Because of the civil right age, a minority can be president!

But we owe it all to the people who make a difference, and paid a hell of a price to make things better for someone else. They made the world a better place. They made the ultimate sacrifice! They got killed by doing this kind act. So my question is, "would you be willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, even if it cost you your life??

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.
Martin Luther King

Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.
John F. Kennedy

The guns and the bombs, the rockets and the warship, are symbols of human failure.

The sacrifices I've made in life and continue to make are individually weighed. I was more cavalier with my own life before I had children. And I suppose that upon my youngest leaving the nest, I may be again.

For the record though. Kennedy and MLK did not write the Civil Rights Act of '64. It had nothing to do with the rights of woman to vote, which was granted through an ammendment to the constitution (an entirely different process than an Act of Congress).

And Honeydripper, I think you meant Ohio State.

As to the question, how have we all benefited from the Civil Rights Act; It gave dignity and respect to a group of people needing in, and when we provide others with that, we get dignity and respect ourselves.
