pale tears
break my heart with pale tears
the remaining flotsam of those fears
how easily happiness torn down
a word an uncommitted grunt a frown
these truths universal true
joy may not always positively accrue
sometimes you end in debt
in situations fearful you cannot forget
and the darkness which lies there
pursues you when your heart is laid bare
the defences placed to prevent re-occurence
must come down if fear to joy be your preference
for walls high and stout do not lovers make
it is when you are open vulnerable and shake
being so exposed and hoping not another error
for to love is to make self truly human and to err
you must hope in erring you still to self do good
feed yourself with love's ambrosia as Gods would
looking down from Olympus haughty and free
from these doubts which haunt you and me
the times rich with passion we cannot forget
or the moments sour we may always regret
when pale tears from a broken heart fell
when all this life a slaughterhouse for love in hell.
