Beginning Sonnet...

The past, like snakes that coil around Your feet,
Emerges from the grey anew each day;
Expressions of lost hopes that can betray,
To paint a new horizon in defeat.
What’s gone is gone, what’s lost is lost, You see.
The memory does much to measure men
But not so well against what has not been.
And painful as we know the task can be,
Comparisons for what we have not known
Cut perfect flesh of love to<b> bleeding </font></b>bone.
We try to find our balance as we see
Tomorrow weave itself in strands of gold,
Unmoved by what is new for fear of old.
