Dr.Kinkylove or how I learnt to stop worrying and love the blog.

I first stumbled upon the Internet nearly nine years ago.
My had saved all the money he had been given for his Confirmation, and wanted to buy a computer, for a 14 year old , he knew exactly what he wanted.
So a few days later a PC entered the house , we didn't see him for a least two days , and then he appeared , with spaghetti plates full of wires and cables. “Whats all that“ I said, “The modem” he replied. I had no idea what he was talking about, but was aghast as he unplugged the telephone, and proceeded to play with all the wires and things. “ Now we are in the Internet “ he proudly proclaimed. After much discussion , the wires and modem stayed where they were, and his Internet access was limited to two hours a day, and that we were paying for it!.

Shortly after this momentous event , the family left for a skiing holiday, I dared to enter juniors inner sanctum and took a look at his PC, ( I admit it, I was bored) it was still switched on. I pressed refresh, and found my self in a primitive chat room, ( by today's standards) amazed at this wonder of modern technology, I pressed a few keys and said hello, “Hello Dannyboy “came the reply , now I was confused, it took me a while to realise that junior had chosen a Nickname for this room, and that it was full of teenies. I soon became bored with their chit chat , so I logged out of the room then in again, choosing a nick for myself and a room more suited to my tastes.
It took a while to find a name as all of those that I wanted where gone , and finally settled on “Sir Stephen” and entered an over 30's room within about two minuets a small pop up appeared “ hello, do you know the story of “O” “it said , “Oh i do indeed” there followed a long and very interesting conversation with a young lady of 25 , if i remember correctly, that lasted till quite late in the night. I also then found out that every hour you got booted by the server, and had to re-dial at least a hundred times in order to get back on-line again.

The following few nights the same procedure, but I never encountered my first chat partner again, after a few days , i got a little bored with the site , and found on the providers main page something about Lycos, I hit the logo , and was on their home page , and signed up on the chat, with an e-mail adde too. Not as easy as it sounds , as my only experience with PC's was at work, where we used them as tools, not as toys, well some of us anyway.

There I encountered my first experience of cybering, really rather boring , honestly, Does the idea of playing with yourself while sitting in your teenage d 's bedroom, on HIS PC appeal, not to me anyway.

So , after their return , occasionally I was allowed in the inner sanctum while he watched TV, and I enlarged my Internet experiences. I also found out that you can't be in the net and on the phone at the same time, this the cause of many arguments in our house as no-body could phone us or we them.

About a year later I bought my own PC , and the arguments continued for a long time, as we both could not be in the net at the same time.

My PC was then equipped with Windows 98, so I used MSM as my main provider and soon found their chat rooms too, became a regular in a few, joined and ran a few of the groups, and sometime later was hosting in a chat room myself. There followed over a few years many other chats, including a few rooms that I started up with others.
It was during this time that I found ALT, as a young couple for whom I hosted ( those days the chats were “owned” ) also had a group for BDSM and associated things, and ALT was often mentioned .so I became a member there, that must have been about six years ago.

All good (and bad) things come to an end and after a lot of bad publicity closed it's chats , and attempted to make it a paying only service, this did not really catch with the public at all. So I drifted off to Affairlook, sister site of ALT , as I found ALT's chat pretty boring, and could not come to terms with all their silly rules and etiquette of BDSM rooms, I wanted fun, not a lifestyle.

Affairlook seemed to fit the bill, and I found myself with new friends and a choice of rooms. Since then I have had a few profiles here. After a while I re-invented myself, mostly out of boredom, and I found that one collects a lot of network friends , and nothing ever happens , so I switched off one profile and started again with another, always letting regular acquaintances know of my new nick. I have done that a few times . At times we have had single profiles for myself and Mrs GB, and ones as a couple.
Then came Blogging, that could be a blog in it's self lol
Mrs GB has since distanced herself from the net and chats, as she simply got fed up with the hassle, abuse, internal politics , and the chore of replying or deleting the flood of abusive or unwanted mails. Although we have had some luck with contacts, and fortunately, have never had a “bad” date, and have had some pleasant experiences too.

p.s. I've just noticed , this is our 100th posting, 56 on here , and 44 on our other blog/profile. is that something to celebrate?

GB_cple

I know how you feel about Alt.com and that is the very same reason that I am over here and not over there. Here on A.F.F. there are also more profiles and activity then over there.

Congratulations on your 100th post and discovering the joy of blogging!
