Rich or Poor? What do you think?

Rich or Poor? What do you think?

I happened upon a post which postulates and lament about the status of the poor and how downtrodden they are.

So I went out of my way to look into this matter.
No, I am not a student in philosophy, nor a professor in economics.

However I do remember my chapel teachings, yes, I was in a boys school where we had adult men dressed in white gowns spewing out advice and wisdom to our young impressionable minds.

Blessed are the poor, for theirs is the kingdom of haven't.

Haven't paid the utility bills,
Haven't paid the credit card bills,
Haven't exercised,
Haven't started dieting,
Haven't started any of the new year resolutions,
Haven't done homework,
Haven't open a savings account,
Haven't taken the skills enhancement course,
Haven't can wait.

Well, life is the result of our choices so if these blessed poor souls don't like their lives, perhaps they ought to make better choices.

If your goal is to be comfortable, chances are you'll never get rich.
But if your goal is to be rich, chances are you'll end up mighty comfortable.

But who am I? I am just a humble plumber serving damsels in distress over their leaky problems.

By the way, I was told that being rich or poor is a relative matter.
That I truly agree because when I won a consolation prize in TOTO, my sudden meager wealth vanished into thin air when a couple of unknown relatives came out of the woodwork to seek financial assistance.

So what say you?

I think it is all relative. I don't think of being rich or poor just in terms of money. You can have all the money in the world but are you rich if you have no one in your life to share it with? People you truly love and who love you?

You can be the poorest of poor but if you have the love of your life, your health and family, are you really poor? Or, are you rich?

...just something to think about....

I apologise because I wasn't too clear in my title.

Yes, what you say is entirely true. It is good to be rich in love. But that doesn't put food in the mouths of starving children although I do understand that the God of Love will take care and feed all His children.

And yes, it is always better to be rich in experience than to have money because experience truly makes you wiser and wealthier, which easily translates to a comfortable life.

And I totally agree with those who admonished me and say that money is never important compared with being rich in character because it gives a person integrity and honor.

And to those who feel that in life, it is important to have richness in chocolate cream and rich food, yes I believe you know what you believe.

As for those clamoring for richness in history and culture, I totally agree with you why only history and culture and arts will save mankind.

And let's not forget those who feel that rich in political power is the one true riches and strength in the American democracy.

Thus I do apologise if I am narrowing down the definition of "Rich" and "Poor" to just money and the power of financial wealth to purchase goods and services. Although I can understand in some limited aspects, all the above are rich to influence a bank account but in its strict sense, I am referring to "rich" in something that we can deposit in a financial bank (not a sperm, blood or urine bank) and withdraw monetary physical interest payment to the sum of capital invested or saved in the bank kind.

I seriously need to find another clearer word for financially rich.

I thought of that but then my client, a Physical trainer mentioned being healthy is to be wealthy and boy oh boy... Here we go again.

Nope... I think I am going to stick to financially obscenely filthy rich. That should excluded all the feel good other positive aspects apart from monetary richness!
