Wondering about people

I have been on this site, with a couple diffrent nicknames for about 10 years. I even payed for this at one time, and really I didn't see any diffrence. I am a standard member, and come to relize, getting in a chat room, and blogs are about the most entertainment there is here. Maybe it is just people from Central Missouri that set up a meeting and then don't show. I do a little travling, and to be honest it is refreshing to get out of state, do a little sight seeing, and meet others that are 10 times more friendly than the people of Central Missouri. Not just in a sexual sense, But I have noticed the people I run into while traveling are more on the job than people around here. They are just more helpful, and friendly.
I relize while on the job I am a asshole, But that is buisness. For what I pay my guys, I expect something to get done, and I do not pay for a employee to be on a cell phone, of slacking off. I do not put up with sub contractors that do not do what they say they will do. life is to short to have the extra worry in my job.
Off the job, I treat everyone with respect, setting in a bar, I am usally the first one to buy everyone a drink, But hey I like to have fun.
Any ideas on why people will set up meetings then be a no show? I would sure like to understand it.
