Perspective
12:30 a.m. and I’m sitting here
In my chilly, uncomfortable freezer
wondering why it is so cold.
Thinking about waking in the morn,
preparing for another work day,
ready to venture out, half asleep,
getting into my cold automobile
stepping in this cold and mushy snow…
Horrible!



Then I realize, as I write these
lines, sitting quietly in my ice-box:
You are out on those cold,
dark, lonely streets of ours,
walking all alone, bundled and
shaking, calf-deep in snow,
to this apartment I call cold,
much warmer than you feel outside,
an apartment I would call cold,
But to you? Warm, dry, heavenly...
Comfortable!

Good advice. I'm teaching myself to pretend it's just another day. But I do stay inside unless I have to leave.

I live on Lake Erie... there's ice in that snow, man. In New York I didn't have to worry about all that moisture, you know; but out in Ohio, that lake is no joke.

I'm teaching myself to ignore it but it takes time. I'm 4 years in and still learning.
