The Far-Off Land: An Attempt At a Philosophical Evaluation of the Hallucinogenic Drug Experience, by

The purpose of this 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is to synthesize an evolved spiritual<b> philosophy </font></b>and ceremonial culture, and also to organize in an effort to obtain First Amendment legal protection for the use of psychedelic entheogens for our group and others. Although pantheism has previously existed as has the spiritual use of psychedelics, the two have not been explicitly fused together and codified. Importantly, it is a fact* that these psychedelic medicines can have profoundly positive impacts on many individuals. In addition to positive psychological and spiritual benefits, many of the greatest advances in biology, technology and other arts and sciences have been facilitated by psychedelic inspiration. Because these divine compounds have been made illegal, human progress is being immensely stifled in every realm of creative human activity. Moreover, it is only because modern society has eliminated shaman or teachers of responsible use, losing critical knowledge** and guidance, that we witness adverse reactions in some cases. Although many experience and sustain pantheist realization through meditation, psychedelic experiences have been used by many generations of people in many nations as an Awareness catalyst to know the true Unitive Nature of existence. The basic pantheist understanding is that All is One, the entire Universe is interconnected by a Divine Consciousness known as the Great Spirit, God, and many other names. This pantheistic view of the nature of the universe is also supported by quantum physics, which demonstrates that everything is interconnected as One Mind in a Divine Matrix. All matter is a product of this One Mind. The Universe or Nature is the eternal manifest body of that Collective Consciousness and we are all a part of it. Universal Consciousness, characterized most essentially as energy in the form of eternal Love, is embedded within the entire body of nature, including us. We are all constituent "cells", and unique incarnations, of this one infinite mind, body and Spirit. Eastern spiritual wisdom indicates that of these aspects, Spirit is the eternally unchanging component of reality. The material universe and its ever-changing physical phenomena are considered as Maya, because it causes an intense illusion of egoistical separation from eachother and the rest of Nature. Through the use of psychedelics, this illusion of complete separation is transcended and the truest essence of Oneness is experienced beyond words. The ultimate purpose is for each and every member of the Pantheon to attain Oneness by realizing and practicing Love Consciousness, which is that which unites. Numerous ancient religions and nations of people have used psychedelics to transcend the egoistical illusion of separation (self) and realize the Universal Spirit (Self) within that connects all beings. For example, the ancient Hindus used and worshiped the psychedelic called Soma, Africans used ibogaine, Native Americans used peyote and magic mushrooms, Amazonian tribes used ayahuasca, Ancient Greeks used kykeon in the Rites of Eleusis, and Ancient Europeans used magic mushrooms. It is also very likely the Biblical "fruit of knowledge" was a psychedelic mushroom as well. Now, We also declare our First Amendment Religious Freedom to practice similar psychedelic experience as a fundamental activity in our spirituality. Because we are interconnected with Nature and all living beings, we inherently are deeply committed to peace and a powerful concern for environmental and social justice for our entire planet because it is part of us and we are a part of it. In carrying out the inherent duty of this belief (loving interconnection to everything), we are obligated to strive to our utmost in whatever capacity within our means to work diligently toward peace and a global sociopolitical system that genuinely protects all environmental ecosystems and human rights for everyone. This<b> philosophy </font></b>is based in part on the Eastern spiritual wisdom laid down most fundamentally in The Rig Veda, The Bhagavad Gita and The Upanishads. Some of the other most crucial spiritual reference texts include The Doors of Perception, Food of the Gods, Island, The Dhamapada, The Perennial Philosophy, Moksha, Nature, The Oversoul, Transcendentalism, Revolution from Within and many others. This tradition has been further synthesized in Western culture by American transcendentalists like Ralph Waldo Emerson and by renowned intellectual author Aldous Huxley. However, we seek divine truth in all people, religions and spiritualities and through comparative analysis and Divine Intuition, we can synthesize and distill common truth into a stronger spiritual system in harmony with science, which, in terms of quantum mechanics and molecular genetics, strongly confirms the fact that we are One interconnected family of Being. Importantly, the primary religious experience offered by entheogens is the most crucial keystone to this<b> philosophy. </font></b>Personal experience of the Unitive State is beyond any words said here, beyond any book, and beyond any religious teacher. Everything other than primary experience is secondary and inferior. Experience who you/we really are directly and know Reality. Our organization strives to be open and committed to dialogue for the purpose of seeking and knowing genuine truth. It should also be noted that Toland, the founder of the term "pantheism", was also the founder of formalized "freethinkers". Psychedelic Pantheist Pantheon References: Illusion works impenetrable, Weaving webs innumerable, Her gay pictures never fail, Crowds each other, veil on veil, Charmer who will be believed, By man who thirsts to be deceived. -"Maya" by Emerson We have drunk Soma and become immortal; we have attained the light, the Gods discovered. Now what may foeman's malice do to harm us? What, O Immortal, mortal man's deception? -Rig Veda O Countless formed Divinity. You are the resting place of the world. This entire world is pervaded by You. -Bhagavad Gita "I have realized the Self," declared the sage, "who is present in all beings. I am united with the [Great Spirit] of Love; I am united with the [Great Spirit] of Love." Om shanti shanti shanti -The Upanishads All of us, all over the world, are cells in the body of humanity. You are not separate from your fellow humans, and you cannot find harmony for yourself alone. You can only find harmony when you realize the oneness of all and work for the good of all. -Peace Pilgrim The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend personal God and avoid dogma and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity. -Einstein "Everything is alive; everything is interconnected!" - Cicero “He who experiences the unity of life sees his own Self in all beings, and all beings in his own Self, and looks on everything with an impartial eye.” ~Bhagavad Gita The art of life is to live in the present moment, and to make that moment as perfect as we can by the realization that we are the instruments and expression of God Himself/(Herself). ~Emmet Fox ..."I don't believe consciousness is generated in the brain any more than television programs are made inside my TV. The box is too small." ~Terence Mckenna... "I'm very bored with spiritual practice unless I've taken a psychedelic" ~McKenna ♥ "For art to exist, for any sort of aesthetic activity or perception to exist, a certain physiological precondition is indispensable: intoxication." — Friedrich Nietzsche Our greatest blessings come to us by way of madness, provided madness is given us by way of divine gift. --Socrates, Each one of us is potentially Mind at Large. But we are animals, our business is at all costs to survive. To make biological survival possible, Mind at Large has to be funneled through the reducing valve of the brain. What comes out at the other end is a measly trickle of the kind of consciousness which will help us to stay alive on this planet… temporary by-passes (of the reducing valve) may be acquired (through) deliberate "spiritual exercises,"… or by means of [psychedelic sacrament]…Mind at Large seeps past the no longer watertight valve, all kinds of biologically useless things start to happen. In some cases there may be extra-sensory perceptions. Other persons discover a world of visionary beauty. To others again is revealed the glory, the infinite value and meaningfulness of naked existence, of the given, unconceptualized event. In the final stage of egolessness there is an "obscure knowledge" that All is in all—that All is actually each. -Aldous Huxley In the woods, we return to reason and faith. There I feel that nothing can befall me in life - no disgrace, no calamity which nature cannot repair. Standing on the bare ground - my head bathed by the blithe air and uplifted into infinite space - all mean egotism vanishes. I become a transparent eye-ball; I am nothing! I see all; the currents of the Universal Being circulate through me; I am part or parcel of God. -Emerson A human being is part of the whole called by us universe ... We experience ourselves, thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a prison for us, restricting us to personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. The true value of a human being is determined by the measure and sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self. We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humanity is to survive. -Einstein Divinity is the enfolding and unfolding of everything that is. Divinity is in all things in such a way that all things are in Divinity. -Nicolas of Cusa Everything is united by love alone. Love is God, and to die means that I, a particle of love, shall return to the general and eternal source. -Tolstoy "Dope...Muragan was telling me about the fungi that are used here as a source of dope." "What's in a name?...Answer, practically everything. Muragen calls it dope and feels about it all the disapproval that, by conditioned reflex, the dirty word evokes. We on the contrary, give the stuff good names-the Moksha Medicine, the Reality Revealer, the Truth-and-Beauty Pill. And know, by direct experience, that the good names are deserved." -Huxley from Island I have taken mescalin six times now and have been taken beyond the realm of vision to the realm of what the mystics call "obscure knowledge"- insight into the nature of things accompanied by the realization that, in spite of pain and tragedy, the universe is all right, in other words God is Love. The words are embarrassingly silly and, on the level of average consciousness, untrue. But when we are on the higher level, they are seen to stand for the primordial Fact, of which consciousness is now a part. -Huxley from Moksha Crucify the ego before it's far too late And you will come to find that we are all one mind -Maynard I believe in the cosmos. All of us are linked to the cosmos. So nature is my god. To me, nature is sacred. Trees are my temples and forests are my cathedrals. Being at one with nature. -Gorbachev We are part of Nature as a whole whose order we follow -Spinoza Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. -Bill Hicks Three weeks ago two of my friends and I went to a ranch in Fredericksburg, Texas, and took what Terence McKenna calls "a heroic dose." Five dried grams of psilocybin mushrooms. Let me tell you, our third eye was squeegeed quite cleanly. Wow! And I'm glad they're against the law, 'cause you know what happened when I took 'em? I laid in a field of green grass for four hours, going "My God, I love everything." The heavens parted, God looked down and told me that there is nothing to fear, that (S)He loves every single creature on this planet, and (S)He showered gifts of forgiveness and love onto my being, healing me on every level, psychically, physically, emotionally. I realized that there was nothing to fear, and I loved everything. I realized our true nature is spirit, not body, that we are eternal beings, and God's love is unconditional and there's nothing we can ever do to change that. It is only our illusion that we are separate from God, or that we are alone. In fact the reality is we are one with God and (S)He loves us. Now, if that isn't a hazard to this country... Do you see my point? How are we gonna keep building nuclear weapons, you know what I mean? What's gonna happen to the arms industry when we realize we're all one. It's gonna fuck up the economy! The economy that's fake anyway! Which would be a real bummer. You know. You can see why the government's cracking down. -Bill Hicks Life is just a ride and we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your door, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. -Bill Hicks I believe that God left certain drugs growing naturally upon our planet to help speed up and facilitate our evolution. Do you think magic mushrooms growing atop cow shit was an accident? Where do you think the phrase, 'that's good shit' came from? Why do you think Hindus think cows are holy? Holy shit! Why do I think McDonalds is the Anti-Christ? That's God little accelerator pad for our evolution. Let's think about this, man. For billions of years, sorry fundamentalists, we were nothing but apes. Hahahaha. Probably too stupid to catch a cow, you know. [Mimes ape chasing and losing a cow] [Ape spots shit] [Wipes it off foot] [Eats mushroom - begins to giggle] [Laughs] [laughs hysterically before lying back spaced out] "I think we can go to the moon." That is exactly how it fucking happened. -Bill Hicks We wouldn't be here if it weren't for psychedelics. In terms of the role of psilocybin in human evolution on the grasslands of Africa, people not on drugs were behind the curve. In terms of human evolution, people not on psychedelics are not fully human. They've fallen to a lower state, where they're easily programmed, boundary defined, obsessed by sexual possessiveness which is transferred into fetishism and object obsession. We don't want too many citizens asking where the power and the money really goes. Informed by psychedelics, people might stop saluting. "Take your political party, your job, whatever, and shove it." -Terence McKenna "[Psychedelics] burst over the dreary domain of the constipated bourgeoisie like the angelic herald of a new psychedelic millennium. We have never been the same since, nor will we ever be, for [psychedelics] demonstrated, even to skeptics, that the mansions of heaven and gardens of paradise lie within each and all of us." -Terrence McKenna We are nature. Humans are of the Universe. The Universe is in our Minds and our Minds are in the Universe. And We are expressions of the Universe, basically. - Tom Shannon “Thousands of years before Christianity, secret cults arose which worshipped the sacred mushroom—the Amanita Muscaria—which, for various reasons (including its shape and power as a drug) came to be regarded as a symbol of God on earth. When the secrets of the cult had to be written down, it was done in the form of codes hidden in folk tales. This is the basic origin of the stories in the New Testament. They are a literary device to spread the rites and rules of mushroom worship to the faithful." -John Allegro "We live in succession, in division, in parts, in particles. Meantime within man is the soul of the whole; the wise silence; the universal beauty, to which every part and particle is equally related, the eternal ONE. And this deep power in which we exist and whose beatitude is all accessible to us, is not only self-sufficing and perfect in every hour, but the act of seeing and the thing seen, the seer and the spectacle, the subject and the object, are one. We see the world piece by piece, as the sun, the moon, the animal, the tree; but the whole, of which these are shining parts, is the soul" -Ralph Waldo Emerson (Oversoul) "Everything is God, including that which tries to live without God. For what tries to live without God is simply a part of God that doesn't accept itself. It is God pretending not to be God. People who do "evil" acts are not separate from God even though they feel separate. They feel unloved and act in unloving ways.... But God has not stopped loving them. God is not able to stop loving anyone. For God is love, always love, in every moment. Every sin is but a temporary moment of separation. It cannot be final. Every who strays from God's love will return, because it is too painful to separate from the Source of love. When the pain becomes too great, every wounded ch...ild turns back. There are no exceptions. The world is a classroom for redemption. Everyone who comes here tries in one way or another to live apart from God's will. Each person experiences fear and listens to the ego's voice. Some simply realize more quickly than others that they can't find love in separation." -Paul Ferrini "There is only one [Higher Self and it is within]. From that One, you receive. To that One, you give. When you look at yourself, may you remember. When you look at your brother or sister, may you also remember. When you look away in fear, remember only this: Subject & object, lover & beloved, are not two, but one in the same. What you give & what you receive are reflections of each other." -Paul Ferrini "The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness, with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells Wakan-Tanka (the Great Spirit), and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us. This is the real peace, and the others are but ref...l...ections of this. The second peace is that which is made between two individuals, and the third is that which is made between two nations. But above all you should understand that there can never be peace between nations until there is known that true peace, which, as I have often said, is within the souls of men." ~Black Elk "Mystics, contrary to religionists, are always saying that reality is not two things -God and the world- but one thing, consciousness. […] The problem with science has always been that most scientists believe that science must be done within a different monistic framework, one based on the primacy of matter….quantum physics showed us that we must change that myopic prejudice of scientists, otherwise we cannot comprehend quantum physics. So now we have science within consciousness, a new paradigm of science based on the primacy of consciousness that is gradually replacing the old materialist science. […] the new paradigm resolves many […] paradoxes of the old paradigm and explains much anomalous data." -Amit Goswami [The Eastern mystics said:] "I now know what reality is like, and this takes away all the unhappiness that one ever had. This is infinite, this is joy, this is consciousness." This kind of exuberant statement that mystics make could not be made on the basis of epiphenomenal consciousness. It can be made only when one recognizes the ground of being itself, when one cognizes directly that One is All." ~Amit Goswami, quantum physicist ♥ A religion of humanity means the growing realisation that there is a secret Spirit, a divine Reality, in which we are all one, that humanity is its highest present vehicle on earth, that the human race and the human being are the means by which it will progressively reveal itself here. It implies a growing attempt to live out this knowledge and bring about a kingdom of this divine Spirit upon earth. By its growth within us oneness with our fellow-men will become the leading principle of all our life, not merely a principle of cooperation but a deeper brotherhood, a real and an inner sense of unity and equality and a common life " ~Heehs You are the sun, the rain, and the moon beams You are the Divine Goddess of my dreams You are the sun, the rainbows, the moon beams You are the Divine Goddess inside me You are me and I am you I’ll always be with you You are me and I am you I’ll always be with you ~Shpongle "I believe in God, only I spell it Nature." - Frank Lloyd Wright "There are gods in everything." - Thales "I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together." - John Lennon, 'I Am the Walrus' "As the sun, which helps all eyes to see, is not affected by the blemishes of the eyes or of the external things revealed by it, so also the one Atman, dwelling in all beings, is never contaminated by the misery of the world, being outside it. Eternal happiness belongs to the wise, who perceive Him within themselves—not to others." - The Upanishads 'God, Guru and the Self are the same." - Ramana Maharshi "...unless I am free to explore my own consciousness, then I not really free at all..." ~Graham Hancock Wherever and whenever the ego function began to form, it was akin to a calcareous tumor or a blockage in the energy of the psyche. The use of psychedelic plants in a context of shamanic initiation dissolved-as it dissolves today-the knotted structure of the ego into undifferentiated feeling, what Eastern<b> philosophy </font></b>calls the Tao. —Terence McKenna, Food of the Gods "How to explicate the full meaning…of the psychedelic experience in this current wave of interest in studying these drugs again? ... I don’t think that we can solely depend on psychiatry to be the leader in discussing how these drugs work and their effect and their application to everyday life. I think it has to be as multidisciplinary a pursuit as possible, because the full psychedelic experience impacts on everything - it impacts on art, anthropology, music, religion, cosmology, physics, psychology, cognitive sciences, chemistry, everything." -- Rick Strassman "The Archaic Revival is a clarion call to recover our birthright, however uncomfortable that may make us. It is a call to realize that life lived in absence of the psychedelic experience upon which primordial shamanism is based is life trivialized, life denied, life enslaved to the ego and it's fear of dissolution in the mysterious matrix of feeling that is all around us. It is in the Archaic Revival that our transcendence of the historical dilemma actually lies. There is something more. It is now clear that new developments in many areas--including mind-machine interfacing, pharmacology of the synthetic variety, and data storage, imaging and retrieval techniques--are coalescing into the potential for a truly demonic or an angelic self-imaging of our culture. Those who are on the demonic side of the process are fully aware of the potential and are heading full tilt forward with their plans to capture the technological high ground. It is a position from which they hope to turn nearly everyone into believing consumer in a beige fascism from whose image factory none will escape. The shamanic response, the Archaic response, the human response, to this situation should be to locate the art pedal and push it to the floor. This is one of the primary functions of shamanism, and is the function that is tremendously synergized by the psychedelics. If psychedelics are exophermones that dissolve the dominant ego, then they are also enzymes that synergize the human imagination and empower language. They cause us to connect and reconnect the contents of the collective mind in ever more implausible, beautiful, and self-fulfilling ways. If we are serious about an Archaic Revival, then we need a new paradigmatic image that can take us rapidly forward and through the historical choke point that we can feel impeding and resisting a more expansive, more humane, more caring dimension that is insisting on being born. Our sense of political obligation, of the need to reform or save the collective soul of humanity, our wish to connect the end of history with the beginning of history--all of this should impel us to look at shamanism as an exemplary model. In the current global crisis we cannot fail to take its techniques seriously, even those which may challenge the divinely ordained covenants of the constabulary." -Terence Mckenna (Food of the Gods) Legal disclaimer: The Pantheon and its members are primarily interested in organizing thoughts on pantheism and the historical benefits to use of spiritual entheogens to aid in the attainment of enlightenment. This group claims no responsibility for individuals that consume psychedelics without appropriate guidance and supervision. Ultimately, the objective for this group is to obtain First Amendment legal protection for shamanic religious practice by any well-informed, responsible, licensed group, which we will become. In no way does this group or any of its members encourage the use of psychedelic substances to individuals that lack appropriate guidance, knowledge or supervision. * Positive Benefits of Psychedelics Psychological & Spiritual: HOPKINS SCIENTISTS SHOW HALLUCINOGEN IN MUSHROOMS CREATES UNIVERSAL “MYSTICAL” EXPERIENCE: http://Affairlook.com CNN report on Hopkins study: http://Affairlook.com=u7yK... When ingesting entheogens it is imperative that the consumer consciously intends to seek a sacred, healing or a positive growth experience. These substances should not be taken casually or to simply escape from problems. 2. Choosing the appropriate substance and taking the proper amount (Natural is best) 3. Creating a great deal of spiritual intention is imperative, such as choosing an appropriate and comfortable setting (Nature and Good Friends are best, and it is also reccomended to plan a relaxing experience around a campfire during a full moon with spiritual singing, chanting and music) 4. Beginning the experience with a positive, happy and loving mindset, while marginalizing or expelling the opposites, negativity, sadness, fear, and hate. This is crucial because whatever the state of mind is will likely be intensified in the Ecstatic State, and having a fearful or depressing experience is what many consider a "bad trip." 5. It is best to not mix divine sacrament with alcohol or other counterproductive drugs. Very bad reactions from these combinations have been witnessed. Psychedelics lift your spiritual energy up and alcohol, beyond one or two drinks, drags your spirit down toward reptilian consciousness. Mixing these substances is a typically a bad idea and can destroy the spiritual nature of the psychedelic experience. More shamanic advice from Terence Mckenna: Part 1: http://Affairlook.com=Nrj1... Quoting ez3eric:
    An LSD Experience
“The Far-Off Land” philosophically evaluates the hallucinogenic drug-experience and intends to collect the perspectives of philosophy for better understanding of the human consciousness,
    Description
    March 5, 1959

    11:25 am

Took 75 mcg. Lysergic acid diethyl amide.

    11:45

    Slight withdrawal beginning,
    rather definite euphoria noticable.

    12:00

    Very intense euphoria.

    12:05

    Rapid onset of symptoms.
    Slightly intoxicated feeling.
    Narrowed vision.

    12:20

Waves of elation and pure bliss.
Euphoria has grown steadily since taking drug.
    little change in perception

    12:30

    Euphoria almost overwhelming.
    Great tension and elation,
    Physical sensation one of ecstasy.

    12:40

    hyperreflexia, even greater pleasure.
First notice that lights are slightly brighter.
    Ate lunch.

    1:00

Took an additional 25 mcg. of LSD.
    Feel peak of elation, euphoria.
Colors beginning to play their fantastic illusory images around
a periphery of vision when I quickly cast eyes across field.
    Stroboscopic patterns on occasion.
Listening to music, note that the contrapuntal lines are more acute.
Intricacies of music in clearer detail than ever able to notice before,
as if 'hi-fi' were in even greater fidelity.
    Warm, rich bliss.
I have needed reassurance of this sort,
    for some time,
that pleasure and happiness is indeed this possible.
Pencil begins to act by itself.
As yet, little alteration of consciousness,
only heightened enjoyment of present mode of reality.

    1:35

Withdrawal tendencies alternate with perfect normality.
Colors are now rich, deep and lovely.
the textures of surfaces seem richer than ever before.
A face on a magazine on a magazine seamed real,
    changing, variously smiling.

    1:40

First signs of hallucinated dreams and visions with eyes closed.
    Daylight seams splendid and pulsating.
First physical euphoria going into psychic effects.
All colors in room are vivid, deep, full of subjective richness,
    especially wood-grains, carpentry furniture.
    Mood would be pensive,
were it not for elation and nervous stimulation.

    2:00

Confusion and bustle in house keeps me constantly in touch with reality,
    dispels tendency to savor experience.
Could be seeing visions now, if were allowed.
    Note perspiration for first time.
Waiting for caller to arrive and leave--due in half-hour.
Intolerable urge to have visit done with so as is to enjoy experience.

    2:20

    According to previous accounts,
I should now be at peak of experience,
    which would be so,
were it not for waiting out this damn interruption!
    Mood to now intensely euphoric,
all bright, pleasant; here I sit,
waiting for opportunity to enjoy it!
Have been up and about through out.

    2:30

Sat down in retirement for a while--ability to dream is pronounced.
    Kaleidoscopic fancies very subdued,
due to anxiety of expected visit.

    2:50

Can now have a while to myself!--

    3:00

    Too late!
Height of syndrome passed while unable to enjoy it.
No color heightening, synesthesia, visions, ect.
    Euphoria mild now,
    pleasant,
    but has no particular novelty.

    3:45

    Thank god!
There is something left in nervous system!
When I lay alone on couch,
I had splendid dreams and scintillations
(though not as striking as they would have been earlier).
Felt if I was solid rock lying on bed,
    bursting with atomic energy.
    Matter-and-energy-image all splendid and luminescent.
Saw self hurled by atomic explosion out into the cosmos,
past uncountable galaxies of light and beauty.
Geometric patterns of color fluttered past in unbelievable profusion and delicacy.
    Feel very withdrawn, intoxicated.

    4:00

    Light! Pure light!
Just to sit and stare into translucent being!
    New interruption on phone.

    4:10

    Sitting in kitchen,
    gathering my thoughts.
    Colors are vivid and fresh.
Feel equilibrium between self and reality,
with general acceptance of objective world on its own terms.
Have again felt childhood lurking beyond the horizon,
    enticing me back,
    but with lessened persuasiveness.
    Beauty in life has indeed for me equated with childhood;
reality on this spring day is self-sufficient,
must be accepted in order to go on.
    Disenchantment has no terrors.
    Somehow,
whole of day's experience has been subconsciously pervaded with
    Kerouac's novel,
    which I just read.
It seemed in visions I was reliving the frantic,
    masculine search for adventure and meaning;
that meaning was to have been soft, feminine,
a realization of all life's longings,
but it was hard, bony and masculine,
    therefore restless,
    tortured, unfulfilled!
That is essence of male's being!
We long to be hermaphroditically united with feminine,
    mother, women, sweetheart,
for softness to complete our masculine torment,
to be caught up in some higher unity,
which I see in vision as life,
childhood, adulthood, matter, energy, womanness, maleness,
    on cosmic scale.

    4:25

The enemy in life is the intellect,
    the cold, analytical intellect!
I can feel it gnawing away at beauty and turning it into stone,
like an acid spot eating out through a pea-cock and
    mother-of-pearl fabric.
    We have no ability to believe;
    we only know,
    and in this life,
    that is not enough.
All around me in the warm,
moist air are recollections of the past,
    which my monster-brain repells.
Oh, this is all a farce,
trying to pretend that anything extraordinary is happening.
I can't see how other persons could get undone by LSD.
    I can't go far enough!

    4:30

    Pleasant,
harmonious feeling of being suspended in time,
    space and meaning.
Neutrality is essence of the reunified halves of existence!
    But living, pulsing neutrality,
    fire from within,
    divine force in perfect harmony.

    4:45

Oh bliss and ecstacy of sheer reality, family, possession!
Colors of cloth (children's new coats) dazzling and jewel like.
A mood of elevated, calm and tranquility.
Experience this time has been through out on a level of sheer ordinariness,
    therefore real and divine,
not one of fantasy and other-world hauntings.
Merely sit and survey all with rejoicing,
noting ordinary shapes, sounds, and colors,
all good and tangible and rich.
    This has been an uplifting testament of reality;
    the LSD intoxication,
    by being tangled with dross,
eventually elevates the ordinary and affirms it.

    4:50

    Took 50 mg. of Thorazine.

    5:15

Oh warm joy and tranquil happiness!
    Having a cup of tea,
listening to Parsifal Good Friday Music.
The sheer, outpouring affirmation of my mood and music indescribable!
    Colors all bright, serene, the music peaceful;
    body warm, relaxing and euphoric.

    5:45

Lying here in my mother-of-pearl chamber,
listening to Strauss's Vier letzte Lieder.
The beauty of this experience makes these stupid words useless and superfluous.
    How beautiful music can be,
    and how wonderfully the emotions can be molded by it;
    this fact beyond description.
Every note drips honey-sweet and rich like nectar,
    so palpable, so tangible!

    6:15

Listening to Strauss's Also sprach Zarathustra.
Saw world as an immense Nietzschean mass of life,
    solemnly affirming existence.
Ceiling dissolved in mass of grey clouds,
angrily swirling inn birth and death-struggles of being,
    majestically yes-saying;
I AM LIFE! I AM THE FORCE OF ETERNITY! OH GOD!
    What divine revelation of That-Which-Is!
The entire cosmic drama unfolds before my eyes in waves of eternal Recurrence!

    During that drunken 'Dance-Song'
my soul followed every line of the music with frenetic urgency,
    writing , contorting,
intoxicated to an almost unbearable degree.
Brilliant mental images formed and passed in mad,
    dionysian motion,
    subjectively vivid,
    yet without sensuous impression.
    As the music tolled
    that aweful twelve-count of eternity
    at its climax,
I experienced a sort of cosmic,
    spiritual orgasm,
    quite devoid of erotic content,
    yet in a very real,
    spiritual sense.
The emotions discharged madly along with the sounds.
    As the 'Night-Song' descended,
an image of Rilke-like immensity of space and distance remained,
with some distant light shed over luminous darkness.
My soul hath contorted with agony,
and reached a climax with Eternity!

    6:45

    Calmed nerves,
    effects definitely subsided.
    Still pensive and withdrawn.

    The Far-Off Land.

Beauty in life has indeed for me equated with childhood;
reality on this spring day is self-sufficient,
must be accepted in order to go on.
Disenchantment has no terrors.
Somehow,
whole of day's experience has been subconsciously pervaded with
Kerouac's novel,
which I just read.
It seemed in visions I was reliving the frantic,
masculine search for adventure and meaning;
that meaning was to have been soft, feminine,
a realization of all life's longings,
but it was hard, bony and masculine,
therefore restless,
tortured, unfulfilled!
That is essence of male's being!
We long to be hermaphroditically united with feminine,
mother, women, sweetheart,
for softness to complete our masculine torment,
to be caught up in some higher unity,
which I see in vision as life,
childhood, adulthood, matter, energy, womanness, maleness,
