Well, I have survived the New Year. In fact, it was kind of boring ...I didn't have a drop of alcohol either on the eve or yesterday (hell, I fell asleep some time before the ball dropped ...10 is apparently the new midnight after all). I did however, manage to lose about a third of my on New Years Eve.

I had quite a few people tell me how I should wait to cut the dogs hair until it warmed up a little bit, but honestly ...I don't really recall ever going this long between haircuts with him. After spending as much of the day as I did cutting out matted up snarls and wrestling with the poor little guy, I don't think I ever want to pass the 6 month mark again either (he's had a couple of baths in that time, but no haircuts). He's really pretty well behaved for the ordeal ...but I'm not very fast, and neither of us are really big in the patience department.

Holy smokes, but his hair had gotten long though. He used to let me brush him out every now and then, but as he's gotten up in years he's lost his patience for a LOT of things (good thing that only happens with dogs, huh?). He trembles a lot more, he lays down when I'm trying to keep him standing, he runs when he sees me pick up the brush. Mostly he just sits there and looks pitiful, which is bad enough I guess, but he's always SO proud of himself once it's all over with.

He's trimmed short enough that his hair is about four shades lighter and now I can see his eyes and his ears aren't so heavy with the hair that they don't perk up anymore. He LOVES cold weather, but with his hair a little shorter, he does tend to want to snuggle a little more (which is handy when you don't have anyone else to do that with). It's a dreaded project out of the way, both of us are a lot happier now that it's over with, and I can say that at least I didn't wait until the next year to do it. Now I just have to move onto those "other" things.

I still haven't done anything with the pickup ...it's been raining and nasty, but at least we dodged the big winter storm that was expected. My motivation is still low though. Excepting the sister, everyone is glad that the truck is back here.

The other condo that is for sale at the place I want to move to just took a sizable drop in price in the condo listings (not the POS unit I wrote about before ...a different one), so I think I may go have a look at it in person next week. It didn't appear to be in horrible shape looking at the pictures, but they were WAY too proud of it price-wise and they appear to be getting a little bit more realistic. It merits having a look in person in any case.

It would be a nice start to the New Year if I could find a place to live sooner rather than later and get the moving plan started. I usually despise change, but this is certainly one that I'm ready for.

Happy New Year all!

I have an old friend who used to always start out the work day by saying "Ahhh.... New day, new action." It sounds like you could use some new action, too. It's a new year, time for a new scene, and new experiences.

Yup ...in fact, I'd say I'm probably in dire need of some new action. The good news is that I'm doing something about it; I'm getting out again, doing things and meeting people. The downside is that until I'm in my own place and the estate business is out of the way, I won't feel as free or open about doing things.
