There have been huge strides with our relationships with our since they expressed their displeasure about our engagement.

(1) and my fiancé talked one night and the tension is much less. She’s still not happy about it, but she has realized that she does not have to like it, but like many things in life, she must accept what she can’t change. Her circle of control is limited only to what she does, not what others do. She can be miserable about it or just continue with her happy self. I believe her boyfriend had something to do with it since his email saying that he didn’t like her being stressed over things she can’t control. He told her that she should be happy because I have found a good man to make me happy. He showed his disappointment in her decision not to be there on my wedding day. He added that I would support her on such a special day as she should support me. The tension is definitely much less and attitudes are more positive and very happy.

Now I don’t know what has happened with his (1), but since we announced our engagement, he has been very nice. Twice in the past week he even said he loved me. My (1) asked him why his attitude had changed, and he said, “You mom has shown me kindness.” As a matter of a fact his whole attitude in general has improved. I’m still in shock. But I am going to accept it and be happy for the changes and the maturity our have displayed.
