The problem with being special

I think we all want to be special. We want to be noticed. Loved. Respected. Feared. Whatever.

And many of us if not all of us are special.

Now, you can subscribe to the philosophy that if everyone is special, that no one is special. And I know that's a popular discussion lately thanks to YouTube.

I don't necessarily buy that. I think it depends on what kind of special you are.

There's an old comedy routine or something about the SuperFriends...all hell breaks out..."Superman, you spin the earth backwards on its axis...Green Lantern, use your ring to defend the entire planet from alien hordes...Aquaman...you go talk to some fish!"

Now, while that is funny, it's not so funny if you are doing something that requires Aquaman's special talents...

But I digress...

The point I'm looking to make is this...if you ARE special, are you prepared to BE special? Because special means standing out. It means going it alone sometimes. It means being misunderstood.

So, if you want to go along with the crowd...if you are looking to remain anonymous...if you want to stay in the middle of the pack and not draw too much attention...then maybe being special isn't for you.

Special people tend to find their way to the edge...Galileo, Einstein, John Kennedy, Martin Luther King...

Quite often they are persecuted. Sometimes they are killed. Perhaps ridiculed, excluded, or expelled.

That doesn't mean being special isn't worth it. It just means that there are different requirements. As always, you have to take the good with the bad.

With great power comes great responsibility...

It isn't easy being green.

So, do you want to be special?

Or are you already cursed? And blessed?

Cuz...

I yam what I yam and that's all what I yam...TOOT TOOT!

Embrace the suck

I think everyone is unique. I prefer that word over "special". And really, it is inarguable. You are like no one else in the world. You may be similar in certain ways, but you are a unique combination.

Ok, so that may be "special" too. But no one can argue with "unique".

2022... it HAS be better, right?!

To be great is to be misunderstood........Ralph Waldo Emerson

Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.......Albert Einstein

Frankly you can't please everybody in fact often in trying you might find you loose what made you special in the first place. I think no matter who you are worrying what other people think of you is a waste of time. No matter who you are , no matter what you think if you poll enough people you will eventually find someone who disagrees.

In short to thine own self be true , and ignore the haters they are just bitter cause on some level they know they suck

Anyway that's how i see it, besides the great people get to soar with the eagles who cares if a pigeon below them every once in awhile gives you the finger.
