The Doughnut Machine

In 1920, a Jewish refugee from Czarist Russia, Adolph Levitt, invented a machine that efficiently produced these fried dough rings. He started making the pastries in his bakery, and the popularity of his concoctions pushed him to automate the process so he could sell more. Levitt's machine formed perfect rings without the center. The machine was featured in the 1934 World's Fair in Chicago, symbolizing progress and a can-do philosophy during the Depression era. The fried goodies were marketed as "the food hit of the Century of Progress." and here 's the instruction manual on the one i love to watch as a YUM YUM !
