Calling all broadcasters

So our attempt at improving the broadcasts was met with a lot of boos. We switched back to the old version, but it left us with some questions about how you use the tool.

We've always felt there is a better way to manage broadcasts than opening IMC, searching for a chat room - then firing up your cam. Even if you don't like chatting to a group, isn't managing pages kind of a pain in the ass?

I was hoping you could help us understand why the old version was so much better. If I had you on the phone, here is what I would ask you:

1) When you are broadcasting, are you chatting online with other members or simply broadcasting?
2) Do you prefer using a mic or text to chat? If both, how often do you use one over the other?
3) If you are chatting with other members, are you in an interest room group chat or responding to pages? Are you chatting somewhere else on our site, or even off our site
4) How do you decide which pages to answer? How many members do you usually talk to at once?
5) Would you like to have the option to put people you like into a group chat or do only want to keep it one on one?
6) What is the most irritating thing you find when you are broadcasting?
7) Do you use any other webcam software? and if so, what do you like best about it?
8 ) How many people who you communicate with while you are broadcasting?
9) As a broadcaster, what would you change to make things easier for you?

We want to improve the broadcasts, but next time we want to make sure not to take anything away from you. Help us understand what you could really use.

Truly the biggest issue in our cam room Watch or show and cum was the fact that standard members were not able to chat. Many members were very upset by this threatening to leave Affairlook .When I cam in the room i do look at the pages and who is watching me.

I don't broadcast But am a regular viewer.

I can access the cams from three sources~
The IMC /Or {toolbar}Video>Live Member Webcams /Or Chat.

I find that the 'broadcasting now' list for each normally varies from source to source.Except for groups, shouldn't the list shown be the same?

"Member 'X' has stopped broadcasting" this should update faster!!!

Seems the 'pager' rarely works consistantly. "connection timed out" message can show up in ten seconds Or two minutes.

I perfer to view broadcasts that have the audio on.

1) usually chatting

2) usually text chat, Not many understand my accent.lol

3) We chat everywhere, groups, main chat, and pages, also on yah at the same time we are broadcasting.. the old system seemed to handle it no problem..

4) usually only answer pages from members we know really well, unless it is some one asking advice on group or site..

5) Would be a helpfull tool to have i:e moderators meetings, and cyber gangbangs..

6)We found the old system easy to use,but as you know we are long time members,so you get used to the old..

Have a nice day..

1) When you are broadcasting, are you chatting online with other members or simply broadcasting?
The way I usually work it is that I talk on mic and verbally answer pages. I found that trying to answer selected pages tended to knock me off the site.

2) Do you prefer using a mic or text to chat? If both, how often do you use one over the other?
I do use both, if I am in a chatroom as well. Mostly, though, I am using a mic to speak to my viewers.

3) If you are chatting with other members, are you in an interest room group chat or responding to pages? Are you chatting somewhere else on our site, or even off our site
As I said, I never respond to pages by accepting and typing. I verbally answer the pages I decide are interesting. And sometimes I am in a public chat room while on cam, sometimes I am not.

4) How do you decide which pages to answer? How many members do you usually talk to at once?
I usually narrow it down to actually talking back to three or four members. However, something I found I really enjoy on cam is doing a sort of "talk show" format, where basically I talk about random topics that may be suggested by the cam viewers. Honestly, with the new format, that wouldn't be feasible, because the constant scrolling as new messages were received meant I couldn't see any one page longer than about 10 seconds, tops. When you have a couple hundred viewers all trying to get your attention, having the pages in a list format so you can see them all at once is a big plus.

5) Would you like to have the option to put people you like into a group chat or do only want to keep it one on one?
No, I don't think I would ever put my viewers into a group chat. There's no need to see what is essentially a private chat between me and other viewers.

6) As a broadcaster, what would you change to make things easier for you? The only thing I can think of at the moment that would improve the experience is an easier way to ban people permanently from viewing. The current way, of having to go into your blocked members list and manually add them is time consuming and you have to concentrate, which really is too much a pain in the butt. Oh, and I would like it if I could answer pages without running the risk of freezing up the site or kicking me off, but I think maybe that is specific to my computer and operating system, so not really the site's issue.

2022... it HAS be better, right?!

1) When you are broadcasting, are you chatting online with other members or simply broadcasting?

I personally am ONLY broadcasting. I can have 500 or more people viewing and TRYING to all talk at once and each person wants to see the same things over and over (show your titties/ass/p*ssy etc...), but then you get the sick ones asking to see you crap or shove objects normal humans wouldn't even think of using inside of you.. ALL AT ONCE.. so I would like to NOT have the IMC on at all if I could turn it off.

2) Do you prefer using a mic or text to chat? If both, how often do you use one over the other?

I prefer to answer with the Mic as it is quicker. I usually have music on anyway.

3) If you are chatting with other members, are you in an interest room group chat or responding to pages? Are you chatting somewhere else on our site, or even off our site

I would prefer the group chat not pages. They are popping up slamming you in the face, and I truly DO believe some people are sicker in suggestions because they KNOW no one can see what they are writing. Like a dirty secret they do it quietly. YES, they want privacy, but I don't want to see that stuff AT ALL. Not everyone on here is into 'everything'.

4) How do you decide which pages to answer? How many members do you usually talk to at once?

I respond to very few. I have gotten called everything but a white woman for it also. Some people are VERY rude on the IMC and truly think you 'owe' them some answer. You can't answer ALL 500 people!!

5) Would you like to have the option to put people you like into a group chat or do only want to keep it one on one?

I would like the ability to make a group chat. The few that I do talk to are VERY polite and probably would have a blast.

6) As a broadcaster, what would you change to make things easier for you?

Me personally, just give me the ability to turn OFF the 'pages' and IMC. I am not interested at all in men asking me to be their mommy, their sister, or their daughter or any of the other really sick crap that gets thrown up there. YES, we can ban them or block them, but I personally didn't pay for a membership to have to listen to some sicko do in.cest.. it isn't cool in any form!! I won't list the other stuff, I think you get the idea.

When I turn on my cam, which is not often, I am usually in a chat room and do it for the benefit of those in the chat room. I do not like to have the IMC come on automatically. I am typically in a topical chat room off the main board.

For my purposes, I would like the ability to not have the IMC on if I so choose.

I like the option of using a mic or not.

I would like the option to have a group chat, but I thinks it is important to have the option to have a private chat with another member.

If you are going to allow for group chat via the cam, you need to have a larger window to view the text and also not have the text box that you type into, covering what has been posted already. Even in a one on one, it would be nice to have a larger box.

I hope my screen shot got through to you showing that. If not, let me know and I'll crop it and re-send it.

1) When you are broadcasting, are you chatting online with other members or simply broadcasting?

I am almost always chatting in my A*F*F discussion group chat room when I cam. It is exceedingly rare for me to just broadcast and not be chatting as well.

2) Do you prefer using a mic or text to chat? If both, how often do you use one over the other?

I use both. Even though my camming is targeted for my A*F*F discussion group, I get "outside" viewers who find me on the list of active cams. Most of the time, I am playing music for my room and the "outside" people tune in as though it were a radio... So, chatting in the chat room of the group and speaking to all about the music or whatever...

3) If you are chatting with other members, are you in an interest room group chat or responding to pages? Are you chatting somewhere else on our site, or even off our site

I chat in both places. The primary purpose is to service the discussion group chat room, but outside viewers are actively engaged through the cam IMC as well. Often, we get new members for the group from their interest in the cam and "outside" chat.

4) How do you decide which pages to answer? How many members do you usually talk to at once?

I answer the pages that are respectful and on topic. I will juggle as many windows as I can fit on the screen, but the average is 2 - 4 cam IMC chats in addition to the discussion room group chat.

5) Would you like to have the option to put people you like into a group chat or do only want to keep it one on one?

I already have this option as does any other cammer on A*F*F. The first discussion group I joined was because of a cammer who cammed daily and had a related discussion group with it's own chat room. She routinely invited people to join her group. It had over 30,000 members in it's heyday. People would find her in the list of women camming and end up joining her group. It was very much like buxombbw4u 's talk show format in her answer to #4 below, but my host was answering bot the cam IMC and her members in her chat room.

My camming model is not much different save for the fact there it is much more about the audio because of the music content than the video.

So, when you ask about putting people in a 'group', it sounds like you are thinking about a smaller group dedicated to just the cam of one person. My response is that option already exists and has been and is being implemented through the discussion groups. Why reinvent the wheel??

6) As a broadcaster, what would you change to make things easier for you?

I maintain that the 2 most important features we all want is a smooth, excellent picture and no interruptions in good quality audio.

Related and next on the list would be stability in that there should be less freezes and less dropped cams. (We call that going 'poof' )

Privacy in individual cam IMC type chats is essential. Having everyone see what is said to me or what I am saying, whether watching or camming myself, will make me not cam personally and never page when I'm watching others. The facility for group chatting about and to a cam already exists in the discussion room chat rooms as shown above.

I would like to see an option to ban someone from the immediate broadcast OR permanently as a choice when you click on their user name in the 'who is viewing me' list. There is no reason that we should have to go to our banned member list page and manually enter their profile name. (Have your tried to type someone's profile name while you are busy doing other things?? )

In your narrative, you mentioned managing pages. We only have to open as many pages or chats as we want or can handle. AND, removing things like chat and who is viewing me or profile lookups to other windows allows A*F*F the option of making these secondary functions lower in priority in the allocation of bandwidth. The video and audio of cams should receive first priority in the push through the limited bandwidth we have to use. Ancillary functions should be relegated to lower status so that they do not take bandwidth from the video and audio causing freezes and breakups - in separate windows.

But, of all the things I'd like to see, quality of video and audio and stability of both trump any other other considerations. How about just concentrating on making the cams smooth and reliable instead of adding 'features'. You could add all sorts of cool bells and whistles to the cams and the cam window, but if they are jumpy, freeze, lose audio, drop out ( poof ) or take an eternity to load, what is the point?

Interesting - the list of questions is different on the main page than here, within the entry. These questions got lost somehow...

6) What is the most irritating thing you find when you are broadcasting?

In order of most irritating to slightly less irritating:
poor or intermittent audio.

Poor video.

Instability (poofing) .

Having to type in an offender's name to ban them.

7) Do you use any other webcam software? and if so, what do you like best about it?

No.

8 ) How many people who you communicate with while you are broadcasting?

I'm a guy on cam - I don't usually get swamped with requests to chat on the cam IMC system. But can have 4 or 5 chats open in addition to the discussion group chat.

9) As a broadcaster, what would you change to make things easier for you?

Answered as #6 in my previous post below.

I didn't see the other questions.. let me answer those too then..

6) What is the most irritating thing you find when you are broadcasting?

The most irritating thing 'to me'... is having men go ballistic and start calling me names like whore and c*nt because I DONT ANSWER THEM!! For whatever reason some on here truly think we OWE them or they are the ONLY ONE talking or trying to talk to us and get all pissy we don't just drop everything for them. Another reason I want to turn the IMC OFF when I am on.. at least be able to.

7) Do you use any other webcam software? and if so, what do you like best about it?

Nope, just the one that came with my cam.

8 ) How many people who you communicate with while you are broadcasting?

I usually am if anything 'in a public chatroom' and I tell those wanna-b-cam-directors to quit right there in public. And if ANY are talking to me in private, it is only 1 or 2 and it would be as a few have said ABOUT THE TOPIC!! Which is usually the music I am playing or something like that.

9) As a broadcaster, what would you change to make things easier for you?

As I stated before.. I saw NASCARFOX said it also. I would definitely want the option to turn OFF the IMC and not have pages flying in my face. So many 'assume' if you are on the IMC cam on or off that it is just a freeforall sex thing and some of us truly are NOT doing that. And the insults to us for not participating really makes me not want to use it at all. Yeah yeah.. report abuse.. but it is to no avail. Turning it OFF would stop that.

I have to agree to some of this. I am here to JUST cam and I for one am also kinda fed up with the jerks yelling at me. My entire profile is now rearragned and thanks to someone telling me how to make the color boxes I have it standing out but it STILL doesn't work. I am not here to perform as if I was 'on demand tv' and some get disgusting and REALLY REALLY pissed off when you don't give them what they want. Hey, when I become hbo and get paid for it I will do exactly as I am told. Till then, I would love to just play with myself on cam and not have jerks slamming crap at me either. Why can't you morons just watch and enjoy? Some really ruin it for others. NO driving trucks up my crotch and NO i am not a stupid bitch whore when I don't answer you. I am BUSY playing with myself and I am NOT stopping to 'TALK' to some idiot. I am sure you wouldn't stop jacking off..

I vote for the ability to turn off the IMC also!!

QUOTING QXRT...

***6) What is the most irritating thing you find when you are broadcasting?

pages from people who dont even bother to read my profile to see if we are a match, or ask questions that are already covered in my profile.
***

I just want to point this out specifically.. it seems quite a few of the answers note that people are NOT reading things and because you are on cam they 'assume' much. They assume you are here for sex, do everything, and talk to everyone including them... or you should. I myself laughed when I had a person send me a page asking if I could "show up in 15 minutes for sex". I am in Michigan.... wait for it........................ they were in Arizona!! COME ON FOLKS!! You MUST pay attention to things. I couldn't have made it to the airport in 15 minutes!!! But that is wishful thinking.

I am also watching how many people are noting just how they choose who to talk to and who not to by again 'the comments'.. if they are idiots or rude or anything else. So obviously I am not the only one getting these.

I would like to also make note, for those that are NOT on a cam at all, that there is a 'large number of people' that try to immediately GO TO YOUR HOME AND MEET YOU!! Just because I am on a cam doesn't mean I want someone in my home!! You have to be very careful people.. be very careful!! I would put this in the "what do you find irritating" category.

Noting the post by Rdy2try4, I find it vastly interesting that someone 'disagrees' with it is irritating that someone ignores your profile and thrusts themselves on you. HOW could you possibly say that this behavior is okay?

I myself am not gay, and have no desire or curiousity. I am not saying it is wrong, just not for me. And it is IRRITATING to have men try to hit on me regardless of my personal choices. For anyone to say that someones personal preferences are unimportant and that anyone has the right to violate that is just messed up. I sure as hell wouldn't want anyone trying to 'come to my home' and/or 'meet me immediately' for any reason. And again, to disagree and say YES someone has the right to just do whatever the heck they want to do and ignore your personal wishes is just messed up.

I have believed for a long time, right after I actually signed up here, that too many people don't give a crap what anyone else wants or likes as long as they get to do what they want and how dare anyone try to tell them it is wrong, impolite, rude, or turn them down. I have heard it from far too many women. Thank goodness not all people are like this, but far too many ruin it for others.

I vote that we have the ability to turn on or off the IMC while someone is on cam. And now I will wait to watch my disagree votes. lol

I'm not a brodcaster but I have many friends on here that are and something I hear from them and i'm reading on here is the look of the cam and audio is fine dont change it, the IM part is good in a stand alone window as it is, BUT chances of the person getting your page is a 50/50 gamble, when it works its great when it dosent it sucks. and the last 2 problems are same sex or annoying ppl viewing, straight guys dont want gays viewing them etc, and when ppl r asked to leave and r kicked off they come back for more, so a proper banning feature needs to be made, but on the other hand, the male, female, couple signs beside the user names need to be fixed also, 1/2 the time they show correct in the IM list, then show something eles when they view a brodcast, mine has shown me as a couple, a male, and 70% of the time its right and shows me as female. I have contacted Affairlook about this problem soon after i joined and was told it was fixed but its not.

so to sum it all up:

1. fix the sign beside the users name
2. make a ban feature that works ( banned by user for 12 then 24 hours and on the third ban for good ) or ban for 12 hours anything
3. fix the IM so it works, BUT keep it in a stand alone window, maybe add sounds like a "bling" for an incoming message, that u can turn on or off

I think this hits the nail on the head, if i'm wrong click "disagree"

1) When you are broadcasting, are you chatting online with other members or simply broadcasting?
Little of both. I broadcast until I see someone I want to talk with in a chat room or they appear either on my viewer's list or appear on the IM... or until someone pages me. I leave my cam on a lot as a means of attracting people to view my profile or gain an interest in me.

2) Do you prefer using a mic or text to chat? If both, how often do you use one over the other?
Text, rarely a mic, very rarely.

3) If you are chatting with other members, are you in an interest room group chat or responding to pages? Are you chatting somewhere else on our site, or even off our site
Main dialogue occurs through Affairlook's IM system while on cam. Have to resort to Yahoo on occasion since the IM program (HTML & standalone versions) are unreliable. I would prefer to chat with Affairlook when possible.

4) How do you decide which pages to answer? How many members do you usually talk to at once?
First, I will see if the person is the a female or a couple (don't care to chat with others,) then generally decide to chat or not based if the person is within the age range I desire & a location. Also, I'll read their profile to see if the conversation has a chance of leading to something. Never talk with more than 3 members at a time, usually no more than two.

5) Would you like to have the option to put people you like into a group chat or do only want to keep it one on one?
One on one is preferred & more personal.

6) What is the most irritating thing you find when you are broadcasting?
No knowledge that the cam times out after a while & the ongoing unreliability of the (HTML & standalone versions) not delivering or accepting pages {and once connected to another member, you can't always see what they are typing to you.)

Bans & blocks:
Additionally, the ban / remove feature doesn't always work when blocking someone from viewing your cam, no matter how many times you try to block your broadcast. It would be very useful to have options like 1) "block for xx hours", 2) block this member this cam session, or be able to execute a permanent block.... all from a right click menu on the username.
The allowed viewers filter does not always work either - be very helpful if it did work.

7) Do you use any other webcam software? and if so, what do you like best about it?
I have used Yahoo's webcam software & prefer it's intuitive ness & ease of use over Affairlook's stuff. Plus IT WORKS & I don't have repeated issues with connectivity or removing unwanted viewers.

8 ) How many people who you communicate with while you are broadcasting?
Varies. I decline 100% of the members that are not females / couples.

9) As a broadcaster, what would you change to make things easier for you?
Improve reliability & easier banning / blocking options, a user selectable audible when people start or end viewing your broadcast & an audible for when an IM is received or page received. Notification that your broadcasting session is no longer viewable by others on the site.

the ban block i think would be better if u had a time limit such as 12hour block.the reason i am saying this is cuz some ppl start blocking ppl and click on a name by mistake. like last night i was viewing someone they were clicking names to get rid of them, and clicked me along with the others name, then they asked where did u u? then theying to found out where to un block me from, that was a maze of going here, go there, the first right on your left kinda thing. it was easier to block then un-block.

Affairlook needs to make the block feature so ppl can block someone from viewing yet make it just as easy to un-block incase of mistakes. and i think adding a time limit is the best idea, and 12 hours should be a long enough time

With us the most irritating thing is people telling us what to do. Or they don't like the way my woman is giving me a blowjob or that I don't always show cum when I do( she swallows it most of the time)

Problems werent with the new chat system in a whole sense, the problems stemmed from 2 things really. Standard members NOT being able to send pages and the popups on the video you were watching, all in an attempt to make people upgrade.

The other problem stemmed from the fact that the cam opened up a whole new chat room really, with 100 people tellin ya what to do instead of bein able to pick out a private page. if were talkin to someone we dont really care to let everyone watching us KNOW who were talking too. So the page system that is here right now would be great if it worked 100% of the time.

IF you put someone on ignore, they shouldnt be able to view your webcam broadcast, would be a simple solution to alot of cam banning and getting the wrong people.

i DO agree that this chat system is VERY much outdated...it really doesnt get much older than html chat...and the flash chat is pretty worthless as you cannot view cams in it...you have to type in the cam ya want from a room in the IMC to view a cam.

The flash chat would be great if it worked, but since it doesnt, ya have to use html.

so, my 2 cents would use your new cam system, lose the popups on video, lost the standard members cant page, and keep things to pages rather than a streaming chat on the cams...
