That option is on the blog set up page Affairlook Parody Of a Real Sex Site

Personally I hate it when I go to a blog and have to scroll all the way to the bottom and then read up to follow the flow, especially when I am trying to play catch up. It is great to have that setting on your own blog, but it is a real headache when you are trying to read someone else's. I agree, if you could make it newest on top for your own blog, and oldest on top for the others, that would be great.

Hello Ryan, like FXSBOB3 and PlaynAgain said the option was already there. Only you did not know. You go to your main blog page by clicking your blog name 'A F F is listening' on top in blue print on this page. On the top right, you read 'Edit Your Blog Settings'. Click on that will take you to the page you can do the setting of all what you want with your blog.

As people pointed out this option already exists. There are news websites where the reader can choose the order, independent of what the reporter set up. That would be an interesting option to me. <- Profile photo courtesy of Bonding with coworkers

I'm not voting because there are very good reasons for either. I use to have mine showing the newest posts first and the oldest last. When the bots were plagiarizing my blog and while we still have the "member deleted" issue when you update a post, I switched it to oldest post being the first showing and I would duplicate my post into a comment and that way when folks would read the post, even though they couldn't see the actual post, due to the glitch or because I made the post itself only a one liner for the bots, then they could read the post that I intended for them to read. Ugh! Did you follow all that? Anyway, it's really a preference thing. Change it if you want to and we'll adapt. Keep it this way and we won't really care. Like the others said, go to "edit my settings" at the top right corner of your main blog page and that's where you will find the option of the order of comments. Btw, if you ever have time, read through some of my posts in my Codes, Charts amp Tips post that you so graciously pimped. Much of this information is laid out in them. You can learn all sorts of things about the features and functions, what they do and how to do them. I wrote them for "new" bloggers such as yourself.

I have not voted because as far as I am aware we can do this already???? I am a traditionalist - so new posts show up underneath the older ones (first come first served) and the other way confuses me slightly - until I realise that it is that way - but you know... whatever (not in an indifferent way - just in a 'we-can-change-it-already-if-we-like-way). On a different tack.... was my idea helpful (it is cool if it were not) and can I delete my fecking flirts yet... I am over 120 and it is doing my head in now. Cheers Gavin.

Actually it is fairly easy to see if new comments have been received. Over on the right hand side of your main blog page is the section called "Most Recent Comments by Others". When anyone makes a new comment on a post, one that does not require approval to show, it will be moved to the top of that list and you can see it there. There is also a "View All" link and you can use that to look at past posts where any comment has been made and they will show in the order of most recent comments received. Again, the post must have "public" comments or if "pending" then responses by the blog owner. Example: If you go to my very first blog post from a year and half ago and leave a comment on it today, it will automatically move to the top of the list and show to me that there is a new comment on my main blog page.

In my blog it is an option setting to have new posts first or first posts 1st... aren't all teh same? "Absence is to love what wind is to fire; It extinguishes the small, yet enkindles the great"

What would be nice is to have a default color on posting, inseated of choosing a color each time for each post, but also the ability to change the color if I'd perfer... "Absence is to love what wind is to fire; It extinguishes the small, yet enkindles the great"

Ok, I may still not understand exactly what you are looking for so bear with me. If you want to see the most recent posts on any blog, including your own, simply look at the calendar underneath the photo on the right hand side of the main page of any given blog. I think you are wanting more information to be located on the site's main blog page about your own blog and given the problems of late, I would hope they would concentrate on fixing what is already there and not hurry for any changes. Though I'm unclear why not simply go to your own main blog page for the information and why you wouldn't know if you posted anything new in your own blog. Again, forgive me if I mis-read your comment. Could you clarify what it is you want to show and where a bit more specifically?

As for the question this post is discussing: we do have the option to change the settings on our own blog. It would be nice to have a toggle button that we as readers can change the order to how we like to read it, but leave the blog owners choice as-is. I know I would be infuriated and frustrated to have my settings suddenly changed and no choice given as to how I like to view it.

That sometimes works. I'm not sure about anybody else, but the bottom half of my "recent comments by others" list has been frozen for over a year. It's only the top 3 or 4 that ever change. And sometimes only the top one... and sometimes not. Like I have 5 new responses since yeterday, but my "recent comments by others" has one new person showing. All the rest is me responding to comments in my blog up to a month old (apparently my list does update but not very well). The toggle switch is a great idea. If that feature existed, the site could set a standard for all blogs and then leave it up to every member to decide how to view the comments, including the blog owner. I love that idea.
