Do you ....
Do you .... .... smell what I'm smelling? Yep! I am getting that smell of the changing of the seasons. The smell is in the air and for me that means the start of sledge hockey season! Oh off-season how I loathed you but I also get why we have such a thing. I must admit that it was nice to rest and not go through an entire summer skating again. Sure I need to keep the arms in shape by taking advantage of public skate but I also needed the chance to rest and not burn myself out. Not to mention too the body does take a beating so it needs a rest. I must admit though that I did get on the ice a few times during the summer just to do some work but if anything the mind needed some training more (see last entry) than anything. As I said, I know physically I can do the job but the mind needed to get worked out as well, get trained and be better for it. The body feels somewhat OK and it's ready to go through the paces again for the 6month grind of the season. First practice of the season is next week and should be interesting to see how everyone is by the end of the evening! Can't wait. Normalcy is back! Stay safe and smile all. NJS. <-------- What's on my mind? What am I up to? Drop by my blog! |

Sledge hockey is very cool - it looks like a super tough sport! I know a couple people that play very seriously. Enjoy the start to your season! When I got on to my sledge for the first time 5yrs ago and gave it a whirl it was the hardest thing physically I had ever done. I ached like you wouldn't believe. By the end of the evening I was done, my arms felt like led. I was spent! It was brutal. But by the following week and the weeks after that and the more my body got used to it the (somewhat) easier it got. Now, I can skate just fine, feels quite natural but it's just the skills aspect that's hard to master (those National players make it look so easy!). I will very much endjoy my season. I'll post about the season as it goes along to keep everyone up to date. <-------- What's on my mind? What am I up to? Drop by my blog!
