SHIT HAPPENS SHIT HAPPENS A 26 year old Army Ranger completes three eighteen month long assignments in Afghanistan and has five vicious firefights under his belt. He takes a 30 day leave to visit his friends and parents in Prescott, Arizona. There's a small market on the corner where his parents live, and the Ranger goes to the store on the second night he's home to get a 6 pack of beer. The Ranger is standing at the open door of the small store's beer cooler when two teenage boys wearing ski masks enter the store to rob it. Both the boys are high on meth they snorted in their car fifteen minutes before entering the store. One boy known in the hood as "Stilt" is carrying a cheap chrome plated 25 caliber automatic pistol that holds a clip of nine lead nosed rounds. Stilt is higher than he's ever been. Stilt trips on the low door sill as he goes into the store. Stilt reaches out to catch himself and keep from falling. Stilt reaches out with the hand holding the pistol. There's a live round in the chamber of the automatic, and that round fires. The other boy shouts to the middle aged man behind the small store's counter, "This is a robbery you motherfucker. Get that fucking register open and don't try nothing or you're a dead cocksuka'" Ten minutes later, the two boys are driving away from the store, and Stilt is counting the money which is mostly in small bills. "$210.00" Stilt shouts to his buddy. By this time two sheriff's deputies are inside the small store getting information from the badly shaken man who was behind the counter when the two<b> teenagers </font></b>entered the store. "One of them shot at me when he barged through the door," the man is telling one deputy. The other deputy is inside the store and has found the young ranger lying in a pool of blood. The ranger is lying face up, and there's a small hole in his forehead right between the eyes. "He wasn't shooting at you, the deputy shouts to the guy who's just been robbed." The two deputies and the just robbed guy gather around the dead ranger. "Shit happens.." the other deputy says sadly. by david stardust.... Thursday morning, June 12, 2014...  |
