Has Anyone Else Ever Slapped A Congressman?

As many of you know, I live in extreme North Central Indiana. The 2nd Congressional District to be specific. It's a quiet place. Family oriented, good wholesome values, and chocked full with people from the movie Deliverance. Favorite drinks are Brain Clots, Cement Mixers, and something called...Pull My Finger.

Getting the picture? Sort of like Mayberry but with bigger heads and more brain damage. Last night I was nestled into the couch sipping on a warm Bosco and watching the local news. I'm so fucking wholesome I make myself retch. There were the usual stories about 3 firetrucks showing up to get a cat out of a tree, a 9 1 1 call because the coffee pot was running over, and some lady that had fallen and couldn't get up.

I was comfy. At peace with the world around me. I was even smiling and giving the obligatory head shake with each story. Then it happened! A full screen overly toothy smiling Congressman photo and an accompanying story that HE was introducing a bill for ME. I screamed. I grabbed my balls and screamed again. NOOOOOooooooooooo.

Sure enough, here it came. MY Congressman, the Illustrious, Charming, and Frequently in Attendance, Joe Donnelly was introducing a bill that would restrict, govern, and oversee exactly what movies may be shown in airplanes. WTF?

Airplanes are showing pornos? Since when? Well it seems some pinhead called Donnelly's office and bitched that a movie on her flight was just too violent for her 7 year old to view. Therefore, via the subtraction axiom...Congress MUST get involved.

I sat there dumbfounded. Of course I continued to hold my balls, but I was dumbfounded. We need a law because of THIS? Why did she BUY the little shit headphones? get bored fast and especially fast when they can't hear something. Why didn't she just up his Ritalin before the flight? Why isn't she a parent?

Oh...I get it. The nanny gets airsick. This is the first time she has actually HAD to interact with her in 7 years and she got short tempered and frustrated. Can't be her fault. Can't be the screaming little dickhead climbing on the seats 4 rows up fault...has to be the movie.

Oh, that makes sense. never mind.

Oh, Tall, I've been feeling like this all week. Denied employment because I tested positive for something I didn't smoke. Got the electric turned off. That SO helps a job hunt. My son bailed me out. Lost another chance of income because I wouldn't fit in. I'm 52, I know I'm a loner, oddball, and half wild. Yeah, and...? This is new?

I went to the stable to get paid for the work I did. Told her I haven't been in because I'm allergic to horses, didn't know, and went into anaphylaxis. She wants to know if I'm going to sue. It's my allergy. Just pay me for the work I did.

The unemployment rate is high, higher than those nice figures that only measure the people actually collecting unemployment, and we have to legislate the movies on airplanes. Yuppers! Lame assed sheep.

Peace and love is where it's at.

Would be intersting to learn what film was being watched on the plane; Bambi?

Don't most planes have those individual viewing screens in the back these days, with channels for the children? Look over every once in a while and take a look at what your fucking kid is watching. Don't deny me my right to watch something that isn't rated G. If I'm on an 8 hour flight and all I get to watch are Disney movies, I'm going to make the news, as I'm led off the plane in handcuffs.

Were you at Kelly's bachlorette party? I didn't think the stripper looked like you...

Movies on air planes? I thought the only entertainment (and I'm good if this stays the only entertainment) was striving to maintain membership in the mile high club! {=}

Why then don't they legislate on what Congressmen , Senators , and oh yes what the Chief Asshole can or can not do?

As always

This is one of my biggest pet peeves EVER! So many people expect everyone to take responsibility for their children but themselves - it just digusts me. There is a sign hanging on the refrigerator door at my house, right where the children can see it on every fridge-raiding expedition. The sign reads: RESPECT, MANNERS, SELF-CONTROL. They know that this is mom's bottom line, and that everything I expect of them stems from that. The rest of the village can't do shit for my children if I don't keep my own hut in order!

You live in Northern IN? I lived there myself a moon or two ago...

Legislation isn't about real problems, unless of course you count the politician's need to get his/her/its ugly mug in front of a camera for a soundbyte ...

We can talk about the need for personal responsibility amongst the citizenry all day long, but that never bought any votes, did it?
