Time to start my garden.

I now have the dirt tilled. Need to decide what and where to plant. If you have never planted a garden, you need to think about what you plant where. You don't want to have tall tomato plants blocking all the sun light on your low growing squash plants. Last year I put my tomato's too close together and only a couple of plants really produced. I had a lot of peppers late in the season. My squash produced all season. I need to learn more about growing melons. The melons I grew were very inconsistant. Some were large and tasty and some were much smaller and didn't have as much flavor. I waited for all of them to come off the vine naturally. Maybe the problem was that last year I didn't do as much tending my garden in the nude. I just might have to test that this year and do all my garden tending naked. Happy gardening to all of you who like to grow your own veggies.

I had beautiful tomatoes for a while and then they developed some sort of blight. My peppers flowered but didn't set seed until September, and I only harvested a few mini ones. I did have enough eggplant to feed a small army.

Elevate me...

I love gardening I just do not have the room to garden in my small yard. So I do container gardening. I found something they called a patio tomato that is supposed to grow well in a container. They were pretty good. I started a couple small containers that have herbs and one has the stuff to make salsa. We will see how those come out.

My daughter planted wildflower seeds, daisy's, and sun flowers.

I would love to be able to grow cucumbers so I could make my own pickles.

I have a fairly large back yard. I have room for a garden, a place to keep my classic car that I need to restore and plenty of room for my small dogs to go out and bark. I would love to have more space between me and my neighbors but you make do with what you have.
As for making your own pickles, Go to the farmers market and buy some cucumbers. You wont have the satisfaction of growing your own but you can still pickle them yourself.

Can't stand eggplant. Peppers do very well here. I can't get carrots to grow in my soil so I stopped trying. Mostly I grow squash, tomato's and a few melons. I also grow some okra but I do it for my lady not me.
