Slutty Smokers...

So... I don't know how else to ask the question without appearing like a complete douche nozzle. So I will ask the question, give my view and then expound a bit and wait for the storm to hit... I guess.

Are women who smoke cigarettes sluttier?

Now before you smokers get bent out of shape let me provide my definitions and qualifications.
First - a woman being slutty does not equate to being whorish. Slutty to me, in some cases, could mean promiscuous but not always.
Slutty could equate to being hypersexual.
Slutty can be agressive.
None of which are negative... given the appropriate interaction. Right?
Next - Slutty can mean risky. It can also lend to making rash decisions or decisions one knows are possibly not in someones own best interest.
A bit self centered possibly?
All about instant gratification and living in the moment. Again... let me stress these are not necessarily bad traits. I'm not name calling.
Additionally - Does a woman who smokes send a signal that she is more apt to have risky or less emotionally involved sex? Like a one night stand or sex just for sex.

Are sluts easy? As in ... easier to have sex with with a minimum commitment.

Are sluts dumb?

Are women who smoke dumb?

Now... I don't want to make blanket statements by inferring "ALL" of any demographic but I will state my personal observations when it comes to women I know, who smoke, and women I've interacted with who smoke.

Many women I know who smoke are not corporate proffessionals or advanced proffessionals.
I have known Managers and Consultants and Nurses that smoked. I've known women that make a gaggle of cash that smoke. But... I haven't known many Doctors or Lawyers that smoke. I don't personally know any female CEO's or upper corporate types. Although I did know a very sexy bio-pharmaceutical firm officer who did not smoke. She had an MBA and was crazy smart.
I've known business women, company owners that smoked. I've known women in the military that smoked. I've known teachers with Masters Degrees that smoked.
You get where I'm going with this?
Does a woman who smokes achieve less?
Is she undercutting her earning potential?
Is she sluttier?
Now... I'm certainly not saying a female Corporate CEO can't own her sluttiness or that she's less sexual. I'm trying to make the connection between smoking and sluttiness and does slutty then lend to less corporate upward mobility?

Here are a couple of points...
Women who smoke, do so with the full knowledge that it is unhealthy.
Women who smoke are addicted to either the nicotine or the habit itself.
Women who smoke know it's not the best practice.
Does this make women who smoke bad decision makers?
Do women who smoke, do so knowing, that it affects their potential?
Now... again... we're not talking about a woman that has the occasional cigarette or smoked in high school or for a period of time in college. We're talking about a woman that smokes. She has a pack in her purse and smokes regularly.
Furthermore a woman that smokes didn't just start smoking. She's been smoking for a while.
Why don't uber successful and/or highly educated women smoke? You definately have to concede the notion that a woman who is a lawyer, doctor or CEO is pretty well educated and successful.
Is it that a female doctor understands the risks?
Does she see the effects of smoking and just makes the conscious decision not to smoke?
Does it have to do with status or perception?
Is smoking "low rent"?
Maybe it comes from station in life?

I'll make another assumption here basing it partly on my experience and pulling some of it out of my ass with no facts or basis at all and it's a complete guess. ..
Is it because of the way they were brought up?
Do rich white people not smoke?
Do rich, white, educated women not smoke?
Is it a working class habit/addiction?
Are most women that fall under the slutty umbrella poor or working class smokers?

Here's a little more background...
I'm an ex smoker. I smoked for 15 years, a pack or more a day everyday and then about 5 or 6 years ago I quit. Didn't smoke at all and then, I picked one up and smoked fiercely for about a month and then stopped and haven't had a cigarette since. I love cigarettes. I'm a working class guy. I'm never going to be a CEO and I'm not uber educated and... I'm a bit of a slut... when I want to be. But... we're not talking about me and we're not talking about men that smoke.

So after all that let's ask the questions to answer...
If you are a woman and you smoke is there a correlation between you smoking and your sexuality?
If you are a woman and you smoke are you limiting your potential?
Has it restricted you from success?
If you are a man and you see a woman smoking does that indicate anything about her sexuality?
Does it send you a signal that a woman is a specific type?

Also... if you think this is complete bullshit... you should say so but be prepared to answer some follow up questions because I'll have some.

If you can show me some evidence that says I'm completely wrong in my assumptions I am absolutely willing to concede to the evidence but not the emotion or the hurt feelings.

I hope readers will be honest in their posts because I'm quite interested in the answers.

Let's talk

I don't think that is an unreasonable deal breaker.
It's hard to date a smoker. Inevitably their car and clothes and house are kinda smoke smelly. Not forgetting to mention the potential long term health issues.
My follow up question for you Sir is... would you fuck a smoker?
Possibly have a FWB or fuck buddy type of relationship with a smoker?
I'm not sure whether I would want to have a relationship with another smoker... again. I certainly have no desire to smoke again and I think the pressure might be too much. Would I have sex with a smoker?
Yeah... probably... if everything else lined up... but not something that was potentially long term and that's for lots of reasons...

Im a guy who smokes and Id like to think of myself as a slut ?
Well... you should qualify it then... answer the questions. ..
Are you a worker bee or a corporate type, has smoking hindered your upward mobility, are you uber educated, is there a correlation between your smoking and sluttiness?
Explain...

Below are some stats on smoking from the CDC. Sadly, they do not present any stats that correlate sexuality with smoking.

In general, your points about the more money one has, the less likely one is to smoke. Same for education. But there are obviously exceptions to the rule.

Like me! I'm white, well-educated, decently well-to-do, in a professional position. Am I rich? Nope. Am I a CEO? Well, actually I am now but it's a company of 1 (at least today. Tomorrow? I could rule the world!)

Oh and I'm a slut (at least some of the time).

I'm sure it narrows the dating pool. I've not seen a noticeable shortage however.

I don't think there is a correlation between my sexuality and my smoking - although I'll find out in less than a year as I've committed to quitting before I turn 50. God forbid we find out it's been inhibiting my sexuality all these years!

I'm not aware that it has hurt my success. I've gone as high as I've aspired to. And I'm pretty sure my salary hasn't been less because I smoked.

Am I dumb? Certainly when it comes to being a smoker. Otherwise, not so much. I usually can hold my own in conversations. And they say a person's intelligence can be measured in part by how funny they are, so I must be a fucking genius!

The stat I find most fascinating is that people with less than a GED or high school diploma smoke far less than those with a GED. I would have guessed they would smoke the most.

The other interesting one is that, for race, multi-racial folks smoke the most.

Interesting rumination...and yes, I've missed you!

    Overall
    • 18.1% of American adults are current smokers
    • Represents about 42.1 million Americans

    By Gender
    • 20.5% of adult men
    • 15.8% of adult women

    By Age
    • 17.3% of adults aged 18–24 years
    • 21.6% of adults aged 25–44 years
    • 19.5% of adults aged 45–64 years
    • 8.9% of adults aged 65 years and older

    By Race/Ethnicity
    • 21.8% of American Indians/Alaska Natives (non-Hispanic)
    • 10.7% of Asians (non-Hispanic; excludes Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders)
    • 18.1% of Blacks (non-Hispanic)
    • 12.5% of Hispanics
    • 19.7% of Whites (non-Hispanic)
    • 26.1% of Multiple race individuals

    By Education
    • 24.7% of adults with 12 or less years of education (no diploma)
    • 41.9% of adults with a GED diploma
    • 23.1% of adults with a high school diploma
    • 9.1% of adults with an undergraduate college degree
    • 5.9% of adults with a postgraduate college degree

    By Poverty Status
    • 27.9% of adults who live below the poverty level
    • 17.0% of adults who live at or above the poverty level

Obviously if I want any real work done... I will call on a woman. Reasonable information cited with sources... now that's the way to blog your ass off.
So... you... as with many things with you are the enigma to some of these questions. Knowing you the way I do... and knowing that you have not always been a slut but have almost always been a smoker...at least as an adult type person.
Money not being a factor of success. .. you are a Manager type... and I'm certainly not knocking that. That being said... you're not at the highest corporate level. Could you be? With that brain and a quality sleep counselor... absolutely.
Did smoking hinder your advancement? Meh... I don't know?
Does it correlate to you being a slut?
I do know that smoking is often used as a way to break in... smoke breaks, and the like... seems like it might be a habit done for acceptance. Which... may... correlate to early onset slutty behavior. Which... may or may not be the case for all sluts.
Personally... I think slutty behavior is not a sign of being broken. Can it be? You bet.
But... I think there is a difference between being a slut and driving your own sexuality and needs.
I'm torn... and I don't know the answer.

Of course you missed me... I'm missable.

Wow... you musta missed me...
I do think... 50 years ago most men smoked... rich, poor didn't really matter... doctors, lawyers, news broadcasters smoked on the air... it was a different time...
I think it holds women back... and represents a lack of positive influence... my unsubstantiated opinion is that a woman who smokes probably came up in a smokers house and that directly correlates to station...
Today... I think smart, well educated people don't smoke and that is proportionate to wealth and/or standing and up bringing...
the POTUS is a smoker but I think GW was a smoker in his boozer days as well... the Kennedys were smokers too but... again... 50 years ago
President Obama came from modest roots on his mothers side and I think she was a smoker too... Now the First Lady who is uber educated came up with both parents in the home and is a non smoker... could be a correlation?
I just think there is an aire about women who smoke.
Are they sluttier? I don't know? Is there a link between smoking and oral fixation... that's a whole other blog...
I agree with your comments though... and you both came up well... your Dads were proffessionals. .. I think that lends to why you don't smoke

women who smoke may be a lot of things, but one thing for sure, whatever it is they are, they wont be it for long.
That's actually not necessarily so... the greatest number of centenarians are in China and a huge percentage are smokers... as I agree with the basic premise of your statement... it's proven not to be the case
